When you're online checking your e-mail, you have to go check the forum, and when some massive postwhore invasion hits you get to spend your time deleting posts and banning people instead of sleeping. It gets to be a royal PITA after a while.

As for having special options in posts, we really don't get anything awesome. We don't have any special other-worldly abilities to speak of.

That's just my opinion. AF is still a great place, but mods are a)not something we need more of and b)not that fun of a "job" to have anyway.
I agree. Being a mod, has its good points (just generally making AF a better place), but its definitly not easy. More like hell, than heaven....thats for sure.

IMO, AF is addicting enough, without being a mod.

I used to want to be a mod, made at least 5 threads a week about it, got yelled at everytime and even threatened to be banned if I didn't stop. I wanted to be a mod so bad. After being here almost a year, I'd rather not be a mod, but if they need me I'd be glad to help out. And plus, nobody becomes a mod after being here only a couple months. You have to be here a while, show that you're worthy, trustful, honest, and equal to everyone, and number 1 rule....don't ask to be a mod.

Ahhh.... Grasshopper... it is the way of the world... it is like the 41st Temple of Shaolin... to enter the 41st Temple of Shaolin you cannot want to join the 41st Temple of Shaolin... You must be invited to enter the fabled house... And then they will only invite you when it does not matter to you whether you or are not are a member...

But Master I do not understand...

Grasshopper, your answer betrays your enthusiasm and that you are unready my son...

But...

Grasshopper, one day you will understand these words and then you shall be ready... then you will know the way of the world...

I joked on becoming a mod, but never really wanted to be one. I'm online enough to be one, but I'm to busy with other things to stay on AF too much lately.

Yeah, I joke mods too, you just gotta know where to stop and how far to go. Mods are like everyone else, only they have a secret forum, can ban you, and run AF!

Tangie, I couldn’t have said it any better myself. Some days modding can take hours away from your day and not in a fun way.

Explanation of the grasshopper

No need yet to call the paramedics or the asylum...

Sorry kbslacker and SilverLotus... I think you may be too young to remember David Carradine and the series 'Kung Fu' - though T should remember....

It was a series set in the ol' West with David Carradine as a wandering Shaolin Monk who went about helping the weak and oppressed with his kung fu powers and desire for justice all while looking for his long lost brother.

Every episode had a flashback to childhood with the blind master giving a lesson to the young Shaolin monk referring to the boy as 'grasshopper.'

The show originally was based on a concept with Bruce Lee to be the main character (after his early appearances as the Green Hornet's sidekick). Unfortunately, the network execs weren't ready to have a 'chinaman' hero on primetime in the 70s and gave the role to Carradine instead. Pity.

Comprehende?
