no it doesn't, but it will convert them (does take a while for big libraries though) to their aac format or mp3 format in various bit rates. (i personally prefer the latter over wma).

I used to because of the size, but I now there all mp3's except for what i ripped back in the day.

My laptop is currently using iTunes mainly as I got a free Nano just before I got the laptop. Prior to that I used winamp and Sound Stage for my Sony Network Walkman... I have loaded up Sound Stage as the little NW doesn't hold as many songs but it's better to use on the bike (although it's getting old) but the ipod is handy with the noise cancelling headphones on the flights I was doing up till recently.
I don't really like WMP and given my use of the nano at the moment it seems dumb to try and use both... although I'm going to have to rethink this when I have the new server built for the house.

Yeah, cause everything else is ever so complicated. If that's the only reason itunes is great, then I know im right with not going with it.
