Make sure you get solid quotes... buddy or not, mechanaprics always add to their bills when they can.

AND you might want to check out some of the trans shops like D&D Performance where they've already retrofitted the trans to work in whatever genereation maro you're looking to squeeze it in. Expensive, but when you add up what your buddy's ending bill will be, you'd be better off getting it done right the first time with a full waranty from guys who make a living doing it... and who are very reputable. Besides it'll speed up your time table, probably by years, not just months.
