Re: Audi Quattro convert. to Audi S1

Hello,

I have those wheels in the Reji sport quattro and S1 kits, but need them too for the 84 quattro.

I asked for some spare wheels from Reji, but that's not part of their business...

So I've planned to cast them once...
Maybe should I work on that sooner than I thought to...

Re: Audi Quattro convert. to Audi S1

....How do you get "posting attachments" privileges....? Have sent request to moderators, but no answer...have some pics I'd like to share...
Hey there Rallymaster,... you are a VERY lucky dude to have the speedline wheels in your possession...I have to make the spokes on my unimat lathe/mill, ...turn them to fit the outside rim;(made from a turned tube)...then slide the axle; turned down hub from the tamyia kit (with wheel nut assembly etc) inside an appropriately sized hollow in the middle of the spokes.....jeeezzz !!...talk about fiddly !!..then make molds

i don't think anyone is allowed to post attachments, you can post links or the pictures directly into the thread though.

Re: Audi Quattro convert. to Audi S1

Wow ! I don't think I would have enough courage to scratch this model if I hadn't the Reji kit...

Lucky to have the wheels, but much more lucky if I make it casting some other ones !

.....Well, there's a fine line between courage and madness...right now I'm smack in between the two ! lol....
....but I simply couldn't attempt this project without my unimat1 classic
(...picks it up tenderly and lovingly strokes it...)
....with the the dividing wheel attachment
...This project is something which chose me after years of day-dreaming having seen footage in the mid eighties of the thunderous beast hurling it's way along a muddy winding road, spitting fire as it does....
....my thoughts about Michelle Mouton are best left for a different site tho...lol

Hers some pics showing how I've approached doing the wheels

http://files.automotiveforums.com/ga...hp?photo=54867

http://files.automotiveforums.com/ga...hp?photo=54869
http://files.automotiveforums.com/ga...hp?photo=54870

....the result is passable, but not exactly what I wanted...the wheel hub reccess should have a concave profile...too hard, so made it a simple right angle reccess....anyway let me know what you think

Re: Audi Quattro convert. to Audi S1

Thanx....they used various wheels over the years so I'm not bound to a particular one, but this is what is most associated with the Quattro S1.....notice the concave shape inside the hub...?
http://files.automotiveforums.com/ga...hp?photo=54871
may yet have another go....can always add reworked wheels later after the rest of it is done
