Yes I know it's funny, but it is the only way here, and, also, you won't find this WIP on another forum.......(at least for the moment. )
Cheers,

Jamme

By the way, welcome to the Automotive Forum.

That wiring is superb and drapes very realisticly. You are right about how top world modelers watching the thread makes you want to go to the next level - thats how I feel too.

Can't wait to see more. One suggestion though - would flowing a little copper paint to the recessed oppening of the alternator bring it more to life? Are there 1:1 photos of that part on the real car?

Thank You for your comments.
I will follow your suggestion for thecopper color for the alternator, that will be a nice touch.
concerning the pictures, I have no one showing this part of the engine, unfortunably.......
Anyway, if someone as pictures of the engine, and also the interior of the car, they always will be welcome.
Thank You,
Cheers,

Jamme

How about the rims in the 512S? The Hiro 512BB LM have very small rims/tyres compared with the 1/1 stuff and with other kits of the same subj.
Sorry Gionc for the late answer.......
I measured the rims this evening, they are 17mm in diameter (all the 4 of them. With the tyres on it, the rears are 30mm and the front round 26,9mm.
As I don't know the how the wheels are on the real car.........
Know, i looked how the wheels will fit the body, I must say that it seems OK?
Thank you for your interest.
Cheers,

Re: WIP MFH Ferrari 512S Coda Longa 60 Red Years UP!!!

Hello to everybody,
Had not much time today........
So here's a really small UP......
I worked on the schok absorbers:
MFH gives them as beautifully turned pieces. Unfortunately they have to be red........ so I primed them, peinted them in TS-8. After they were dry, I removed the paint from the fine rod.
I also painted the springs in Satin black.
Here are the parts for the absorbers:

and the absorbers assembled:
[

They need a little wash and the gear for fixing them on the suspensions.

Voilà, thank you for looking.

Hope I can do a little more tomorrow..........

Cheers,
Jamme

Great start on this Jamme. The wash on the engine block is excellent.

Kind regards,
Bill

I'm very impressed by the blackwash...very realistic. Was wondering though, can you use the Zippo fluid thinned blackwash on plastic parts? I normally use Tamiya enamel thinned with lacquer thinner. I would suspect that the Zippo fluid evaporates rather quickly after being applied.

Hello Bill,
Thank you for your question.
You can use the thinned oilpaint Zippo Wash on bare plastic, of course.
No problem.
It evaporates very fast, but has the advantage that the wash dries mat, not satin like with White spirit, or Humbrol thinner....
Cheers,

Jamme

Re: WIP MFH Ferrari 512S Coda Longa 60 Red Years

Hello,
It's me..........(again......... !)
I haven't got that much time to work on the car, but I find one hour......so, here's a little UP....!!!!!
I assembled the rims. Those consist of a center piece in White metal, that is inserted in an aluminium rim. The center was cleaned up, glued into the rim. I then drilled a hole in the rims (0,5mm drill) to place the valve (not included in the kit) later, after the rims being painted....:

There is a sort of cage where the engine takes place. It's made from various white metal pieces, here they are:

As you can see, there is a lot of cleaning up to do, and the parts are not of the straightest.........
so I decided to remake the cage using brass rod.
Here is the original piece in white metal:

and here the part that I remade using rod, soldered together......

It's still needs a bit of cleaning up the solder......
OK, the question is:

-What do you think about it, is it worth doing it?
-Should I clean up the white metal pieces an use them?
-Should I make it in plastic rod, instead of brass?

I really don't know........so that's why I want your (professional) advices...
Thank You.
As always I stay tuned for you comments, critics and questions...

Thank you once again for looking, and enjoy.....!

Cheers,

Jamme

Re: WIP MFH Ferrari 512S Coda Longa 60 Red Years

Progress so far is very impressive, especially the shocks. I like the work you did with the brass. I look forward to being able to do that sometime in the future. I say just clean up the solder, it really looks good.

Re: WIP MFH Ferrari 512S Coda Longa 60 Red Years

Hello Jamme,

when you will fix your rod part on the chassis, the rigidity won't be a difficulty ?

The two parts are nice, so for me the choice would be done for the assembly.

I'm very impressive by yourjob ! Tchuss Pocho
