Re: Yamaha YZR-M1 Valencia Edition

Such great progress! This is turning out great. How do you feel about the PE set so far?

Re: Yamaha YZR-M1 Valencia Edition

Thanks Joel...the PE is fine... almost identical to the PE for the 2004 version. Not sure about the chain though... I will cross that bridge when I get to it.

Re: Yamaha YZR-M1 Valencia Edition

Nice details.
What kind of rivets did you used for the rear swingarm?

Re: Yamaha YZR-M1 Valencia Edition

I have hardly started using the TopStudio parts yet, so too early to tell. From looking at the parts and the resin quality, it seems like a nice set. Time will tell in a few weeks when I really get into detailing. .. and thanks for the heads up about new instructions.. that is really the only part that bugs be about the TopStudio set.

EDIT: I just noticed that there are a much better wiring diagram available on their website now... much, much better..

Re: Yamaha YZR-M1 Valencia Edition

I got the handlebars together and installed. They were slightly modified and detailed. The decals are from the Rennaissance #46 upgrade sheet.

I also installed the engine with 4 screws and replaced the cables with thinner and more realistic ones.

The instruments and front computer was next. These are resin pieces from the TopStudio set. I drilled holes for the connectors and applied CF decals to the parts and detail painted them. The CF decals were toned down a bit with Tamiya X-19 smoke.

The airbox was also given a CF treatment and I added some PE details to it as well.

Re: Yamaha YZR-M1 Valencia Edition

The tedeous work has begun. There are a lot of wires to add and attach. The wiring instructions that came with the TopStudio set was not the best. Fortunately they realized it and issued a new set of instructions and reference photos. Without them and the 2005 Moto GP Racer's Archive, this would have been impossible to do. CF decals are SMS 1/20 scale, all connectors are resin and a few PE parts used for additional details. There are still lots of wires to add, and the bike will be displayed naked when completed... I'm not covering this up.
