well that's good. when they tell you that, it's a good idea to get them to tell you exactly what those codes are. did they? if so, what are they? and are they CEL (CheckEngineLight) codes or are they TransLight codes? and do you know what wires?
sounds like you got a shop that's willing to *work* at it, which is good. hope it ends up being (realatively) good news //bc

to update everybody. The trans shop finally found out the problem. The main powertrain computer was fried and also 4th gear in the transmission. lets just say at 2,800 dollars it's not getting fixed. Thanks for everybody's help

Personally, get yourself a flat-bed, load her up and take her somewhere else for their opinion.
Did you ever get your alt tested *under load*?

yes had the alt tested and was reading good. I know the guy at the amcoo shop and he did test the sift sensor and was fine. The main computer was completely fried. Hook up bypass computer and the truck would shift through front three gears fine but when it ingaged in fourth went straight to neutral

That's too bad; probably did serve it's time in life though, I mean we are talking a 13yr old truck here - not one that's 3 or even 9yrs old.
If the engine and the rest of the body are in superb condition though, it will be cheaper in the long run to repair it then it would be to buy a new vehicle. Keep us posted as to what you decide; if you decide to part it out, I might be interested in some parts; otherwise, if you sale it with a bad tranny, you might be able to get $1k-1,500 or so.
