Re: HELP ASAP! Missing balancer belt!!!!!!!!!

I guess I don't know the answer to that. 99% of BS eliminations get done when the motor is out of the car, and it's not that hard to do and it's much cleaner. That's my guess.

Re: HELP ASAP! Missing balancer belt!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, my only worry is that the rear BS will still be spining off the oil pump. I don't know if the rear shaft spinning and the front not spinning will have any affect on little things like oil pressure. I was fine for the months driving it so I guess I'll find out

Re: HELP ASAP! Missing balancer belt!!!!!!!!!

I never hurt my engine once running without the front shaft for that year i could see.

anyways here is what mine looks like after the elim. kit install.

It was a rubber seal and did not like the press in fit so i made a stainless steel plate to go over it. Had to take the new seal out since it was a brand new assembly and put the plug in. And if you ever decide to get the elim kit make sure you get the one that has the groove in the oil pump shaft stub. I also cut the balance shaft sprocket down to a spacer that sits behind the timing belt on the crank. It is also a balanced spacer now lol

And this is where you would plug the hole off for the balance shaft belt sprocket, oil will pour if you do not plug that hole.

And here it is done with timing set.

Re: HELP ASAP! Missing balancer belt!!!!!!!!!

I called the local mitsu dealer today. The techs wern't in but, one of the mechanics said that I would be fine w/o putting the belt back on. I am going to call back tommarow and talk to a tech and see what they say.

Re: HELP ASAP! Missing balancer belt!!!!!!!!!

They'll tell you to bring it in and have them replace it. For me, I will never take advice from a Mitsu dealer. I don't care if he's a tech or not, I think we here are more "specialized" on our cars anyways.

Re: HELP ASAP! Missing balancer belt!!!!!!!!!

Hahaha yeah after calling and thinking about it, I thought about how me and most the guys on these forums are more qualified to be "techs" than the dealership. However, I figured it would be cool just to see what they said. I'll call them tommarow and see what the guy trys to sell me.

Re: HELP ASAP! Missing balancer belt!!!!!!!!!

Okay, I got the info I was looking for from my other forums(turboforum.net) LINK> http://www.turboforum.net/forums/vie...=325389#325389

Basically, running no belt for the front BS and leaving the rear in will cause vibrations obviously and maybe even oil pressure drop at idle. At idle the front shaft can rotate to a posistion so that more oil gets passed by it. The guy who told me suggested tack welding the shaft in place to prevent this. He also said that most DSMs with broken BS belts have very loud lifter tick at idle(My lifter tick was unGodly loud). I asked him what posistion the shaft needs to be welded in to prevent alot of oil from passing through it.

I've decided I am deffinatly doing this. I'll be sure to let everyone know how it goes and such. Hey maybe I'll start a new fad hahaha.
