I have a 78 Trans Am and I went to look at it and the bottom of the windshield is painted black but below the hood line. |

Re: 70 Firebird
How deliciously half-assed, I'm surprised even Revell expects that to be the "right" way to do it. Do the instructions actually say it? I'd think you'd still be able to see the gap when looking from the side... oh well, my suggestion to section the interior tub stands if you want it to look right

Re: 70 Firebird
I can't wait to get this kit. In fact I'll probably get more than one of them. I'm so looking forward to bulding this car that once I get the kit in my hands it will quickly rise to the top of the "to build pile".
I don't mind correcting the things that are wrong with it. I've built the Smokey and the Bandit Trans/Am from AMT... I know what bad is.

Re: 70 Firebird
Problem solved with the dash. I glued a piece of styrene to the bottom to extend it out a bit...
![]() A little putty... ![]() and after a little sanding, problem solved, no more gap. ![]() Time to finish the motor. Last edited by tajoe; 01-11-2007 at 11:48 PM. |

Re: 70 Firebird
Make sure you check that the windscreen still fits ok before gluing anything now that you have increased the size of the dashboard.
Oops, ignore that comment, I've just noticed the glass is in!

Re: 70 Firebird
This is moving along better than I expected. I completed the motor today. It's was a little frustrating because the plug wires didn't want to cooperate with me today. It was a tough battle but I won! Almost. I need to fix a couple of the boots that I noticed when I took the pictures. The shaker scoop is in primer, I'm still not sure if I am going with a white body and a blue stripe or a blue body with a white stripe. I know the trans ams were white but I have three white trans ams already. But I leaning towards that anyway. Hope ya like the motor.

Re: 70 Firebird
IMO I think the plug wires are a scale too big... excellent detail in general though, I like the plug boots.

Re: 70 Firebird
I decided on the color. Instead of white and blue I am going with a PEARL WHITE body and METALIC BLUE stripes. The will add a little different twist to my T/As. I have the body painted already and it will sit for a few days to completely dry before I mask it off and do the stripe. Normally I would have painted the color of the stripe first but I wasn't quite sure how the pearl white would cover the blue so I'm doing it the hard way. I took a few pictures, some with the flash and some without. The paint is so reflective that I can't get a good enough picture to how it really looks. These are the 2 best.

Re: 70 Firebird
you did it the right way, always lightest color first, no matter what. you would have hated yourself for wasting that beautiful color when it came out sky blue!
motor looks fabulous! looks great I can't wait to see it finished!
