Re: asap asap asap

The weight diff in the 1st gen is b/c of the suspension, engine, and interior parts. the engine is slightly heavier b/c of the MPFI manifold that is 2-Piece, vs the carb'd one.. (debateable)
Then you have the suspension, which I know nothing about, but my STD carb'd model is fine, corners on rails with just urethane bushings and stock suspension (and the front ride height at minimum... so it drives on the corners of the tires.. ) but the suspension barely rolls at high speed cornering.

The 2nd Gen CRX is like 40 lbs between the HF and the Si... rear sway bar and mounts.. and that's all it is. (Unless you have power windows, then it's like 10 more.) You can lose that 40 lbs by taking out parts that are "extra" that you'll never use, such as the tow hooks, and stuff like that. But chances are, you'll add a sway bar to your HF... meaning you just gained that weight and maybe more. So just think about it.

I'm pretty sure its an hf plus the dude said it has an hf motor ( i hope ).. but of course i'll check the engine code; about to do that in a little. Haha but go ahead and make fun but im jumping into this racing world dammit!! I plan to start out with Solo II in my local area.
You're right about the suspension. The 88 comes with the ITR rear suspension from the factory....just the spring rates are different. The HF also has a front sway bar whereas the DX doesn't.
As for the weight differences, 88 is the lightest year for the 4th generation and every year after that, it gets a bit heavier. HF is the lightest, then the DX, then the Si.
The 88 HF is the lightest 4th gen and the 91 civic si is the heaviest (excluding 4dr's).

You're right. The rear shocks are the same though, just different valving. When you shop around for rear shocks for an 88, they'll be listed as 88 civic/crx/ITR.

Re: asap asap asap

Accually the ITR uses 88 suspension if you want to be technical about it. Theres also not alot impressive about it, I have an 88 and I like it, but once you lower it a few inches the effect is completely lost. Its achived by having the mounting point for the compensator link mounted high so when the suspension travels up or down (as it would during cornering) it causes it to slightly toe in or out.

As to dropzone... If I mail you a bullet and a gun, will you put two and two together?

lol i couldnt have agreed with you more.... honestly.. i remember when i used to be like that.. for one.. the power sunroof that the Si comes with adds like 50 or so pounds at the top of the car... making it not very effective in terms of body roll and such.

And thats an awsome piece of information. For a while my dad (who doesn't really know much about imports but has enough common knowledge about automotives.. and it has only been about 24 hours since i've bought the car) thought it was weird that the front of my car would be lowered and not the back; its basically just a poser drag car .. or atleast thats what i thought.. unless by what you are talking about... thats what they intended..... or is this a shot in the dark with this one?

Re: asap asap asap

Lowering the front and not the back would be idiotic.

Technically, yes.
Also, I could be wrong, (so don't quote me on this) but I believe all the JDM models use the 88 style rear.
The 88 shares everything in common with the JDM base model minus the obvious (jdm body panels, RHD).
The 88 has seatbelt-less doors (as do all jdm models), different door shells w/ longer windows, the different rear suspension, wiring compatibilities...etc. which matches the jdm version.
It's basically a jdm crx imported to the U.S. adapted for american safety standards and emissions control.
