that's not "european style".

i've never heard of anywhere else celebrating christmas on the 24th. it's certianly not a widespread thing to do that.

German family here too. And we do everything on teh 24th. Family gets together, we have teh huge meal, we do the present exchange, etc.
Only thing we did on the 25th are stocking stuffers. That's how it's always been. We will do everything Sunday night, Monday I'll get drunk and watch the Eagles beat Dallas.

My family has always done it on the 24th and 25th. I've got a large family, about 60+ locally and 300-400 in the south east US. The 60+ locals (aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews) get together on the 24th for dinner and to exchange gifts. Then on the 25th we stay at home and exchange gifts between our individual families (husbands, wives, and children)
