This post is extremely old...I read Igor's post and thought, "2 and a half months old? I've been here for a year now"

I now see why digging up ancient threads is discouraged. I would think it'd be alright for the level 8 people to customize their titles too, but that's just me.

Which I'm sure is the exact reason that these incentives were never implemented... Thank god for that too... Postwhoring is already bad enough just to get the cute little stars under the name to light up...

Since when have post counts been important? They only incourage spamming.

I guess you're right about that...if only people would hold their posts until they had something that actually has to do with the topic, we'd all be ok...and free of post whores...

Oh wow is this ever old! I must have been a naive 15 upon writing that, so much has changed. I don't think the current system has too many problems, but if some peopel (mods especially) feel otherwise, then put up a thread suggesting an alternative. I'd still be happy with the username, date registered and some discrete form of how much of a contribution to Af that user is. Post counts are okay, but they do encourage postwhoring, and althoguh some peopel with high counts can be regarded as being very senior and wise, others are just people who speak without being spoken to.

If there was some sort of user rating system, I'd like it. I mean a system where user are ranked by other users rather than by the postcount under thier name. It would take a number of months at the very least to have everybody up to the rating they deserve, but it would be a nice chance to know who's worth listening to, it gotten awful crowded these days.

We need more postwhores, so we can have "The Great Postwhore Crackdown 2003" just like last year, except this time we name it.

Anyway, I like the user rating idea, gives you a better idea of who's advice to take.
