The whole campus, regardless of whether you're in a computer lab or on a residence hall is on one hub, if they unblock one they unblock all.

Did you read the user guidelines they gave you when you accepted the connection details?
It's kinda like being an AF member, by becoming a member you agree to abide by the user guidelines - by using their connection you agree to follow their rules.

Take the technical approach: encrypt your traffic, tunnel through one of their ports to a proxy and do whatever you like.
