Re: Rivalry between american automaker enthusiasts
You're leaving out Cadillac, and the CTS-Vs, and XLR-Vs with the LS6 or the Northstar engine. These are fine sports cars that race also. In my opinion they should be in more race series.

Re: Rivalry between american automaker enthusiasts
If you want a reliable Ford, get a RWD one. My Crown Vic is great, and they last well over 200k miles. Mine has 100k and drives almost like new. Their trucks are also good. My friend had a late 80s V6 Ranger that he inherited from his Dad with 250k miles on it. He proceeded to beat the living CRAP out of it. He didn't know until I told him that you are supposed to let off the gas when you shift. He also did redline clutch-drop burnouts all the time and downshifted to 2nd on the freeway and a whole host of other crap. One time the driveshaft yoke broke and the shaft came off the differential, that was pretty funny. But he managed to squeeze another 50k miles out of that thing before hsi clutch finally slipped so bad you couldn't move, and one or more headgaskets busted. It was a great truck.

Re: Rivalry between american automaker enthusiasts
I had an 87 ranger V6 manual and that thing is still on the road. My brother now owns it and its got 200000+ miles. No real work has been done to the truck.

toyota trucks only look good when they are lifted 4-8 inches and sitting on top of 35" + tires with 16" off road wheels. otherwise they look like wimpy wannabe trucks compared to your average ford on the road. |

Re: Rivalry between american automaker enthusiasts
pshhh, a 4wd tacoma will demolish most fords offroading.
and they also left that toyota in the oceon where it was washed up by the tide and flipped over. it took them a while to even find out where it had drifted too. and it still ran after digging it out of the sand.

Re: Rivalry between american automaker enthusiasts
i'm definately partial to GM, but I do like the fact that there's ford and dodge around solely for the fact that they can all compete with each other. if there was just one big domestic monopoly then they might be satisfied once one of their cars reached a certain level of performance. while they all make large-engine sports cars they all offer variety for different tastes,, be it f-bodies, corvettes, blown cobras, ford gt, viper, etc. on that note, lately i've not been minding ford as much but have been annoyed by asshole import drivers. when I was dropping my gf off yesterday i had a 350z riding half an inch from my bumper revving his engine at me, and last week I saw an eclipse and a 240sx cut all the way across traffic from a right turn lane and almost cause a 6 car pile up

Re: Rivalry between american automaker enthusiasts
Im a dirt track racer and a die hard Ford fan. The races that I go to are dominated by Chevy Monty Carlos and the reason most people say they dont like Fords around here is because there to expensive to rebuild and alot say they are harder to work with. I like fords for there engine design and I find everything is easier to work with.
