Re: Problem
lol... oops... I didn't really have any intentions of it taking so long... just parts take forever and it's too damn cold to do anything to it

Re: Problem
Well It sat for a long while, but I'm pretty sure when it was sitting that thing was probably as empty as empty could be. (From the previous owner)
When I got the car back from the shop I threw some gas in there and it ran fine.

Did you check timing yet?

Re: Problem
My bet is 99% on timing. Bad gas would make it run somewhat rough, but not to the point where it would stall out and not start anymore.

Re: Problem
To avoid from making a new topic on this I will just update this thread.
I had my car towed to the auto hobby shop on base since some bastard decided to break out my sunroof and steal all those cheapo tools i had there and a very expensive multi-meter. I was pretty convinced from what everyone was telling me that the timing was off. I ripped apart the whole right side of the motor pretty much, and to my suprise the timing was perfectly on. At this point I was ready to pull my hair out in confusement and along comes the floor mechanic(An ASE cert mechanic who walks around and helps people with their cars, the auto hobby shop is a free service on base, which has a bunch of stalls with lifts and crap for people to work on their cars) He hooks up his magical diagnostic tool and wala tells me the TPS is bad. It makes sense so I am going to change that and see what happens. Hopefully that fixes my bastard car.

My advice is to check your injector pulse. My car had spark on one side of the injectors but not the other. I also replaced my fuel pump thinking that was the problem and it turned out the ECU was bad due to a jolt when my battery sparked on the hood (don't ask, the previous owner was an idiot and had nothing holding the battery in place not telling me). It ran, then it wouldn't, then it would run, and one day it finally just quit. After much troubleshooting, $300 for a used ECU, and it started right up with no hesitation. |

That will be the next step in the process if the TPS doesn't fix it. The only thing I could possibly think of it being is the ECU.
