Re: A Chevy newb with some questions.
The nice thing is, there are no emissions laws down here. I just don't want teh exhaust to be too loud...I don't want to attract the WRONG kind of attention.

Re: A Chevy newb with some questions.
Do you guys think the bank would even approve a loan for a 10-year old car? What I hopefully plan on doing is attempting to get a loan to pay for the Impala and pay off the Focus (my current car), then using the extra money that I get from selling the Focus to use on upgrades and repairs to the Impala (new gaskets, seals, etc.).

Re: A Chevy newb with some questions.
good thinking coming here -- I drive a caprice and usually browse the camaro forum here looking for engine performance type stuff -- I think it's the first time I've actually posted in it.
I don't know if the bank would approve a load for the impala ss. Usually, it would be too old, but prices seem to actually be going up on them. btw, a great place for impala specific questions would be impalassforum.com (not to take anything away from this place -- it's great). There's plenty of people with impalas, caprices, and some of them even wagons in the 13's at the track, and a few even going 11's. I would read through there before you spend any money on mods on the impala -- they seem to know what works and what doesn't. Hope that helps |

but if you don't give the cops a reason to check your car out, you'll most likely get away with it.

Re: A Chevy newb with some questions.
Well even though I really wanted an SS, I decided to go with a more practical (and cheaper) vehicle. A 2002 Chevy S10 LS. It's a standard cab, with a 4.3L V6 and a 5-speed. I'll probably just throw on an intake, headers, cat-back, ECU reprogram, Belltech suspension and some other minor things and be happy. At least I still got my Chevy.

Re: A Chevy newb with some questions.
why don't you just drop an LT1 in that S10. that 4.3 is pretty much a small block minus 2 cylinders. LT1 will drop right in using the stock mounts and everything.

Re: A Chevy newb with some questions.
LT1 is not the simplest s-series swap cause of the wiring involved. a TBI 350 would be simpler. The 96+ 4.3 is capable of 500+rwhp with the right parts.
