This reminds me of those commercials for the cereal with the nuts in it where the squirrels were relentlessly trying to get to it.

Man, I dunno what they were doing, or when they did it; I drive my truck 5 days a week

We had a cold snap last week, so they may have gotten under there in the evening when I got home to keep warm.

Re: Motherf@$king squirrels!

i love killing those little bastards with hand thrown objects... it makes it more of a challenge. what you do is corner them on the end of a low branch sticking out in the middle of nowhere on a tree, then take a basketball and chuck it right at thier head. one time the little bugger i hit was still alive so i let my neighbors cat carry 'im off. lol one time i was driving under a tree that was over the road and one fell on my hood. almost crapped my pants that thing scared me so bad

Re: Motherf@$king squirrels!

It may be packrats also. We have them here in idaho and they can get into your engine and make a pretty good mess of it. They chewed out the wiring harness on a friend of mines car. The mechanic that fixxed it suggested putting mothballs under the hood. Works like a dream. Havent had one in my engine in a long time.l

Re: Motherf@$king squirrels!

I think they came back... More tearing of the insulation, and they actually built a nest in the valley between the driver's side head and the intake plenum. I'm about to go put a moth ball or two under my hood.

Re: Motherf@$king squirrels!

Wizard: Hang in there man. 'Tis the nesting season. This time of year I'm always checking the intake filter box for nests and constantly cleaning them out.

The moth ball thing sounds good. I think I'll try it and hope for more H.P.

Seen pic's of your eng comp and sure hope that when the 12ga comes out that the hood is closed and the truck is behind you.........Steve

Hehe... I was complaining to my electrician (I'm a superintendant) about this today, and he pretty much told me the same thing. My compartment looks like crap right now, too. It's not only dirty, but it has the torn insulation. $95 from GMpartsdirect, and it might make a nice saturday afternoon project.

When I put 2 mothballs under my hood tonight, I went around my yard throwing them out around trees and bushes. Maybe they'll all leave. Next step is a GAMO pellet gun.

Blenderwizard, what do you use to clean your engine and everything else under the hood?

Re: Motherf@$king squirrels!

You might have rats instead of squirrels. Squirrels usually this time of year are storing nuts for winter and they don't gnaw as bad as rats do they just bring their nuts hide them and leave to get more nuts. Seems to me the rats are trying to set up housekeeping in your truck if they are building a nest getting ready to start a family of little rats.

Others have also pointed that out. Just for the record, though, I do not have rats in my house.

Re: Motherf@$king squirrels!

Firedawg81 was right... Put a couple mothballs under the hood and the critters will stay away. Works great for storing a ride. Mothballs under the hood on the inside by the dash and in the trunk. You don't need a lot, just a few.
