What other cars have you had crap out on you? Perhaps you have an aggressive driving style that is hard on your cars?

I wish I had an aggressive driving style.

Sure I drive like a jerk on the roads.. but im not aggressive really.

I had a 1985 Honda Prelude that I sold before I got my license. I sold that so I could buy my older brothers 91 G20.

I totalled that.. then I bought another G20.. this one just pooped on me. =]

We've experienced many here in The States. It's really the most common failure mode for the SR20. That's not to say that there are a lot of failures, but enough to know bearings are the most common by far.

What would he have to replace after he spun the bearing?

At minimum, the bearings themselves. But, usually the crank gets boogered up. In that case....

Crank, all 9 bearings, both main seals.

It's cheaper to replace the engine with a JDM engine.
