Re: 1964 Ford Galaxie SOHC 427

Looking good. Don't forget to paint the inside of the trim on the fenders and doors silver to match the "argent" on the real ones. I saw one back in the mid seventies with it painted red and I liked it so good that I painted the trim on my real one that way too. Here's my model version of my daily driver with the XL trim removed to match my Galaxie 500. I painted the real car a Corvette white because it was the brightest white I could find. I always thought the Wimbledon White looked just a little bit "dingy".

Interesting... Is argent a silver? I dunno if I can paint BMF, I might have to peel it out!

It's sort of a medium gloss silver that shows up a little darker than the chrome trim. It gives the trim a little depth. The real stuff is painted right on the stainless steel trim so I think that you could get by with some on the "metal" colors like silver or aluminum with just a touch of flat grey added. Thin it and put it on with a fine point brush. You'd be surprised at how much of a difference it makes and how many people overlook it.

Very nice!

How old was your bmf, because mine sticks bad, and it's
only like 1 month old. I don't store it like they tell you to.

Fascinating. I may give that a try.

suicidehummer - I have since started storing it in the fridge as recommended. This stuff is too expensive to waste

Re: 1964 Ford Galaxie SOHC 427

I never use the stuff. Too tempermental both to use and store. I use regular aluminum foil with Micro Metal Foil Adhesive to attach it with. Comes from the same people as Micro Sol and Micro Set decal products and can either be brushed on the model or the foil. When you brush it on the emblems and trim, the foil only sticks where you want to leave it and I'm still using a bottle I bought almost ten years ago. Try that with BareMetal.

Little WIP on the engine. Got the parts from R & D Unique. Had a little trouble lining up the resin parts but it looks ok I think. SOHC 427 almost complete!

Looks like something Uncle Ralph (Moody) might have signed off on for my buddy Tommy Turner at the airport. Looking good!

Re: 1964 Ford Galaxie SOHC 427

Ok, last bit of updates and work. Getting set to move into the house in the next couple of days, so I'll mostly be offline, and my modelling stuff packed up. Car's essentially done except engine bay details and the hood, which hasn't arrived from psfhobbies yet. Thought I'd take some glamour shots anyway, as I just LOVE how this car has turned out. Redrilled the axle holes to give it that slammed stance.

Good job, what a killer sstance. The bmf looks good. I bet it looks even better out in the sun. Youve been a building machine lately, good work all around

Re: 1964 Ford Galaxie SOHC 427

Awesome! I love how low it is. It looks... damn killer! On mine, after painting it blue and applying BMF, I trimmed out the center section of the chrome trim, so that the blue showed through. The blue is so light that's it's a real subtle effect, and it looks great. Just more talking about that trim

You also did a really good job with the firewall and rectifying the interior with the new chassis and all. Is that thanks to the 63 Galaxie? The Starliner pretty much forced me to scratch a lot of that.
