Re: DSM Shootout 2006

This has to be the best equiped hotel parking lot in history Engine stands, hoists, compressor and air tools, lights, a tent now to keep the sun out, lots of beerz, everything imagineable.... Awesome.

Re: DSM Shootout 2006

that sounds like a lot of fun

can you take any pics of the lot and stuff?

I look forward to when I'm a bit older and have some money to go to this.

Re: DSM Shootout 2006

There have to be a shitload of pics and videos around. There was one guy taking very deliberate and specific video shots like he planned on making a real video of it. I didn't get any pics all weekend with everything going on, but as they come up I'll post links to them.

My car ran like complete shit. Mid 12s at 110 all day. Slower than my pump gas times from last weekend. The car gets looked into thursday. I may be taking this shitbox to the next level sooner than later...

Re: DSM Shootout 2006

Nope. AFR was right on, timing was normal (I tried two different timing maps that I've run in the past), no knock, airflow was maxed, boost was typical, driving was typical (going to the track once a week for 6 years makes me pretty consistent ), etc. I really have no explanation. I'm going to check compression, and make some more passes with the nitrous on. If I still run 11.5 with the noz there is definitely something wrong, and since my no noz best is 12.0, that would put me in 11.0 range if I figure this out. If I run 12.0 with the nitrous on something changed since last weekend. I swapped out lifters, changed tires, and changed fluids, no other changes made to the car.

Re: DSM Shootout 2006

Weather was almost identical to last weekend at NOPI. According to this site, NRP is at 852 feet. My local track is 90 feet. Not much of a difference, and no one else in the local club was running any slower than normal.

Re: DSM Shootout 2006

AWESOME! Someone posted pics of the overnight motor buildup. I'm in a couple of them. Bottom left of the second pic with the motor on the stand, and under the hood in the black shirt in the 4th pic.

This car broke a shifter cable on the 3-4 but still knocked out an 11.1 at 117. Could have been a 10 second pass, on a motor built outside at the Best Western. Unreal. Something I will never forget.

Edit> Update post from Bill, finally If this (long story short) description of the last weeks events doesn't help to portray the massive effort that went into this project, nothing will. What an awesome weekend...

Sounds like everyone had a great time, I would have loved to been there but I can't exactly pull up in my T-bird.
