I'm sorry, but I 100% disagree with Ralliart. Do not take your car to a dealership and pay for a diagnostic tests. That is the whole point of this website, to learn and work on your own cars. If you want to waste your money, then by all means, take it to a dealership and get them to screw with it...and I wish you hte best of luck (hopefully it runs when you get it back, and you don't have to sell it to pay the repair bill).

But if you want to learn, and fix it yourself. Start a new thread about it, be detailed, give us exact rpm #s, and if you are getting a Check Engine Light. And we will help. My first guess is it has nothing to do with the oxygen sensor.

Re: Car running rough

First off I would never get Mitsubishi to repair you car………..

Although I agree and disagree with Igovert, I do think it would be best if you were able to diagnose the car yourself under the guide/advise of the 3kgt enthusiast on these forums, however if you don’t have the time, I would take it to Mitsubishi and get them to put it on there diagnostics, in most cases they should be able to tell you what the problem is, or at the least minimise the possible causes. Plugging there computer into your diagnostic port will not mess with your car and they should be able to tell you the facts within an 1hr.

Just be very specific about what you want them to do. Get them to tell you what they are going to do, and if they do anything above what you have paid for and something goes wrong, you are covered…….

With the information provided, it could be a number of things including you Mass air flow, Idle controller valve, ECU, spark plugs/egnition leads......etc

Re: Car running rough

Yeah, except they charge you $75-$90 to plug in their scanner. Rather, you could pull your own codes or get Autozone to pull htem for free, or buy a datalogger for the price of 1 diagnostic test at Mitsu. On top of that, once Mitsu has plugged in their scanner, they tell you to replace 3 different things...why? Probably, because they make more money that way. I worked at a dealership, which is why I now tell people to avoid them.

Re: Car running rough

75-90usd its about 30-40USD here lol. We must be lucky here in NZ the Mitsi dealers here don't like messing with our cars, and generally tell us what the problem is just to get us out of there work shop lol.

Your receipts would indicate otherwise.
