check the thermostat also. you can find a 62C one at www.mynismo.com that is about 35 F less than the stock one.

Re: Help I dont want it to DIE!!!!!!

i just went through a lot of overheating problems with my car after i did the intercooler and electric radiator fan. the original one the shop decided to put on was a 2000 cfm single fan with no shroud. didnt' cut it. so i had him return it and i bought a dual fan Flexalite ultrathin with the shroud that seals against the radiator core. i then flushed my system and added almost 90% water instead of antifreeze, and i can now run 8-9 psi all day in 105+ weather with no overheating problems. and that's with an intercooler in front of the radiator! so yeah your fan is most likely the problem, as you say you can stop it with your hand. haha so just go with an electric fan... more piece of mind, better cooling, and a little more power!

Re: Help I dont want it to DIE!!!!!!

you're only running 9 psi? you can safely run 12-13 easily with the intercooler in there... also a good idea would be is to run shrouds from the intercooler to the radiator on the top and sides as to direct air at the radiator when moving at speed..

Re: Help I dont want it to DIE!!!!!!

yeah i took the plastic shroud off by the oil pan and cut it to fit in the front under the bumper lip. it fits perfect can you really run 12-13 psi on this motor safely? i thought it might punch a gasket or something..... and man do i want to swap it to a 5 speed now. the stock auto trans blows so hard. it actually slips when i come on boost when it shifts from 3rd to 4th gear. pos.

Re: Help I dont want it to DIE!!!!!!

shit dude where have you been... you can run up to 500hp on stock internals on these motors... the only reason you don't want to run more than 15 psi on the stock turbo is the injectors max out and you're out of the efficiency range of the turbo.

the oem head gasket from nissan is more than strong enough to hold that amount of power as well.. just make sure you run 93+ octane

Re: Help I dont want it to DIE!!!!!!

shit. f'in california only runs 91...... how much boost should i technically be able to run with 91 octane? and yeah haha i'm kinda new to this forum. so i haven't read up on the motor that much.

Re: Help I dont want it to DIE!!!!!!

that depends... i'm assuming you have a manual boost controller... so a good thing to do is turn it up to 13ish psi and if you have an a/f gauge on it keep a close eye on that, or a REALLY good ear out for detonation... if you get any inkling of detonation back the boost off 1 or 2 psi...

the best thing to do would be to get ahold of some octane booster

Re: Help I dont want it to DIE!!!!!!

good idea. i have a good ear for engine noise so i'll check it out and listen for knocking. as for octane booster, i thought the stuff they sell only raises teh octane by like 1/10 of 1 octane?

Re: Help I dont want it to DIE!!!!!!

yeah i'm not too sure, you could also read up on people who use tolutene as octane booster... apparently it works pretty well
