Re: Has anyone made it out to the track this year?

I'm surprised your running those numbers on a stock turbo isnt it about the same size as an evo III?

Re: Has anyone made it out to the track this year?

It's the exact same flow capacity as the EVO316g, just has twin scroll turbine housing/manifold to help with spool. I get 25 psi at 3000 rpm. I'm not upgrading the turbo until I run 11s on it. I ran 12.02 on a big 16g years ago, and 12.07 on a small 16g (friend's car, only pass I made in it, probably had more). Can't say I'm not consistent! My biggest limiter now is the inabilty to shift at high rpm. I'm hoping the Tilton twin ceramatallic will help in this department. According to shep, a twin is the only way to go with an EVO. The ACT discs are too heavy to allow for quick shifting. I'm thinking about going to the dyno saturday to validate this theory. A local club member is running 11.7s-11.8s at 115-119 on the same exact setup as me. He's running an Exedy twin though. He put down 437 to the wheels at F1 Dyno in maine. If I can come close to that I know the car is running right and the tuning is good, and it's just the shifting that is hurting me. If I put down significantly less power, like 375 perhaps, I know that the difference is due to the setup/problems/tuning, and I've got some investigative work to do. I Don't wat to upgrade the turbo until I know everything is 100%. It's tough to hold out though, the SBR GT3076 kit with cast stainless manifold/o2 is calling my name...

Re: Has anyone made it out to the track this year?

Don't let the wastegate open And don't run on a low reading dyno like dynodynamics or mustang When you hear of cars running ~390 whp on mustang dynos like Bushcurs, it's the same as the 437 on the higher reading dynos like Land and Sea/Dynojet (dynapack seems to be in this group as well). There is a lot of discussion about which is more accurate, but frankly it doesn't matter. The 2wd dynojet is the industry standard only because it is so popular, and everyone wants "comparable" numbers...

Re: Has anyone made it out to the track this year?

I got out to the track tonight. First time running my car, I didn't do to bad but it could have been better. This was my best timeslip, and I bogged off the line.

silvreclipse, i just noticed in your mod list you have fidanza cam gears and no cams. Why is this? Cam gears are a pointless mod if you don't have anything else.

Re: Has anyone made it out to the track this year?

Thats because I got them free. I know that it would help more if I got cams to, but right now I'm working on going turbo. The cam gears did help a little bit. The intake is advanced 3degrees and the exhaust is retarded 1.

Re: Has anyone made it out to the track this year?

Of course the 1st time I ever take my car to the track is a hot ass day. It was 93 degrees and the humidity in South Jersey today was like 100. Anyways..the track is 30 min away so I think I pretty much had everything very very hot before I even got there. I used ice between runs and it didn't do too much. Anways, here's my shitty BEST time. Oh well, I had fun and I cant wait to get some parts into the slushbox and than get a front mount so I dont heatsoak my 14 yr old sidemount! Ill make my return on a nice temperature, fall day.

Re: Has anyone made it out to the track this year?

Holy 60 foot! That cost you over 2 seconds in the quarter right there.

I went up last wednesday night to do some lazy pump gas runs, without no lift shifting (still on crappy clutch). I'm usually a half second off and 5 mph. Dead on once again. Typical race gas times are 12.1s at 113-114. Managed a 12.6 at 109 on pump, straight off the street, full trunk, etc. I lost a couple runs due ot my high engagement point forcing me to hit the cruise control siwtch on the cluthc pedal causing fuel cut on the launch... Oh well.

No more racing until the Tilton twin disc goes in.

lol...yea man..it sucked. So you think that cost me 2 seconds at least right there? Plus if I get the launch down better in an A/T, Ill be good. High stall converter from IPT by the end of summer.

Re: Has anyone made it out to the track this year?

Every tenth you can take off the 60 foot is 2 tenths off the ET. Sometimes a little more. A 15 flat would correspond a little better with that trap speed too. I blieve my 15.0s were at ~82-84 mph.

Thanks for the info kevin. Even though my times sucked, I'm still looking forward to getting some work done to my car hitting up the track again. Its kind of addicting, the feeling I get when I'm at the line.lol

Re: Has anyone made it out to the track this year?

It is definitely a good time. I still get excited at the line, especially on a Pro 400 tree.

The biggest gains most poeple get come from improved driving in thier first season of racing. My first pass in the GSX was a 16.7. I had it down to a 15.2 or so by the end of the night. Eventually ran 15 flats for a little while. Then went down to NC and ran a 14.6. WOuld have called it a fluke, but when I got back home it was repeatable at my usual track. No changes to the car. Then I added a filter, which really doesn't do anything on a T25, and times dropped to 14.3 repeatably a few weeks later. Just more experience driving. This all happened over a few month period, spanning two seasons. Then I threw a bunch of parts at the car and only dropped it to 14.2, so I was doing about as well as I could with that setup. Then I upgraded the turbo and had to relearn how to drive all over again. And the process still continues to this day It's a big part of the fun, improving your own skills.
