Re: Chevy Silverado Prerunner

Ok, finally some more progress. The interior is finally together, and so is the front suspension. The rear is getting there, I just need to finish the body work on the bedsides, and get it painted, then get the rear shocks hooked up to the bedcage. Its almost complete, a few little things still have to be completed like the front and rear tube bumpers. Anyways here are some pictures, thanks for looking.

Re: Chevy Silverado Prerunner

Looking good.
I know it's late, but I would have cut the fenderwells out.
Just a suggestion.
Good job capturing the look.
Black wheels look good.
I may need to send you some bead locks for them..
Can't wait to see it finished.
Keep up the good work.

Re: Chevy Silverado Prerunner

Looking good Bro.
Love the "Flatbiller" fenders.
You know Jake makes bead lock rings that fit perfect on those wheels.
I really like where you are going with this.

Re: Chevy Silverado Prerunner

Looking great.

For the benefit of the others, a 'flatbiller' is basically the off-road equivalent of a 'ricer', guys who basically want their trucks to LOOK like they are prerunners of racers, instead of actually modifying them to actually work well off-road. Most suspension modifications are purely for aesthetics, and do little for off-road performance. One trick I heard was to lower the rear suspension (Which actually sits higher then the front to compensate for when the bed of the truck is filled with a load), which gives the illusion of a lifted front suspension.

Oftentimes they leave the flared fenders in the primer white they are delivered in. I don't know, but that might actually be the style now (Was leaving an ugly body kit on a Civic primer white ever considered cool?).

Typically these are the Limp Bizkit-type guys (Or whatever white rap-metal bands are hot now, I have no idea), with the flat-billed baseball hats worn cockeyed and covering themselves in tats, probably including Japanese writing.

They are also known to drive in off-road areas where it is usually forbidden, which further angers the rest of the off-road enthusiasts because it the makes the rule-abiding folks look bad.

There is a good (But scary) video floating around somewhere on the internet. It is of a couple flatbillers taking their truck over some whoops in the desert, and the rear end is snapping higher and higher over each successive jump until they lose control and roll the truck over. Having skipped something small, like a ROLL CAGE, the roof completely collapsed, but I believe both guys were OK.

Re: Chevy Silverado Prerunner

Thanks for the comments.
Flatbillers aren't always like that. Alot of times fiberglass breaks, from the trucks being used alot and they throw some more on there without painting it, and call it good to go.
Anyways, the theme is daily driver/weekend warrior. So the suspension is modeled after a camburg long travel kit, and my rear isn't anything special. But it does not have a roll cage, because of the daily driver... So I guess some of what you said is pretty true and true about my build. haha. Thank you.

Re: Chevy Silverado Prerunner

I got the tires from rpp hobby on ebay.

It might be awhile for updates, my photobucket has closer shots of the suspension. I was on spring break so I had some time to build, but I am busy again with school .

Thanks!
