17.5?? My friend with a stock 89 Maxima (A/T) pulled a 17.1, and yes people gave him shit for it, but he didnt really care, he just wanted to know what it ran.

Rice to me is when you think you are the pimp sh** and you don't have sh**. For example - lowered with out wheels, or neon with out a body kit, or fast with just an intake. I usually take thousands of dollars to NOT be rice. Rice is wanna-be show/race but don't have the patience to save for something good so you go to Schucks and buy some cheap part that you think will make your car pimp sh**. Now granted ALL of us know that it take a long time to save up to lower your car correctly, and even longer to get wheels and body kit and what not. But it's the big head about the cheap stuff you have that makes you rice. You're only making a fool out of yourself.

Maybe I just misunderstood what true Rice looked like.. I was in the process of building my civic and could not figure out what would be dumb about it..

chzdhippt, just to answer your question - race look is basically not clean, they have just a lot of stuff thrown on their car in a hurry and cheaply. If you build your car clean it good stuff and not lots of gimmicks then you're good. You list of stuff sounds good, I look forward to seeing what it turns out like.

hehe i was just on a rant... billet is fine, if you have everything else done and you are going for a cleaner/classier look... but if you buy a billet battery tie down or a billet dipstick and then think it is way pimp, then that is my problem with it. The food rice and the rice style have alot in common... Well for starters they are both cheap.. First of all if the Japanese saw everything that us american people do to the cars they engineered they would stop sending cars to America.. I mean comeon, seriously folks.. Neon washer nossles? What is the point of those? They have no point and yes they are both cheap to buy and cheap looking thats why people put them on.. I see people driving around all the time with miss painted kits on... Either they bought the kit second hand or didnt have the cash to paint it... Or the cheap $99 dollar bomb mufflers with assorted tips. They sound like shit... AR rims? Look like shit! Chrome walmart wheels also look like shit.. Redoing your seats in a shiney slippy leather wannabe? Also looks really retarded... Some interior paint is alright but too much makes your car look like a circus... But hey kids keep buying cheap coilover kits and nothing else for your suspension... When your car bounces up and down while driving and is unevenly lowered it amuses the masses. Cavaliers are the worst cars I have seen riced out I mean comeon face it could that be any lamer? Aluminum wings....... WTF? That is one of the things I hate most... Most of the cars that have a wing like that on them will never see 95 miles an hour.. I am going for clean... And when you go clean your car gets noticed by those who have class and usually ends up costing alot more.. I have no problems with a few body kits but the rest are ugly.. Even the coolest kit looks like ass when put on incorrectly...... RICE IS TO BE EATEN NOT DRIVEN... I like that and it holds true...

generally i stay out of these debates, however i think this one might get messy. i personally can't stand import owners hating on eachother. isn't it bad enough we have to deal with domestic & classic muscle car owners? what would 4thgenerationcivic.com be like if i designed it by personal opinion? i do my best to stick by: whatever makes the owner of the car happy...after all nobody (including myself) has to drive that car daily but the owner. not one mod on my car was done to please anyone but me.

there are actually a couple of cars that have been featured as civic of the month with mods 100% opposite of what i would do. but they were still featured. it didn't matter i didn't agree with the mod...it matter that the owner loved their car enough to feel it should be featured.

and finally the term "rice" started as a joke... before some of us even owned cars. frankly, i'm sick of hearing "RICE" because it is no longer a joke but am ugly term we import owners use to hate on eachother :apuke: sure it's funny when we called that yellow civic w/ a raingutter as sideskirts....but that was obvious the owner made it to be a joke. it's not so funny when someone gets their feeling hurt over something like a manufactured body kit (hard earned money was spent on )...or even the windsheild wiper L.E.D's

Half the time, I don't have a problem with the persons car, it's more the additude that the person has. They got a stock car and have put $50 worth of stuff on it, ghetto lowered it and then they're talking shit about my car that I've put $10,000 into. It just get's a little annoying. That's a ricer to me.

I rag on rice a lot because its just an awful style.. I get kicks out of it.. It doesn't matter if you drive a 4th gen or an ITR with ractive parts.. Rice is rice, on a domestic or import, old or new.

I think that a lot of you get into sqarbles with domestic drivers, assuming that because their car is domestic you have beef with them, or some sort of vendetta.. I find just as many fuck headed import drivers out there as I do domestic. Just the same, there are more domesics around that are clean and are all about peformance. My style. I get along with a lot of them well.. My type of car is performance oriented, not performance looking.

Hey SiZ... Was you DX a auto before you swapped? Don't piss on ractive they have the best spark plugs around.... Though their other parts suck.. Rice is a trend and all those who follow are just posers and lemmings that have to look at magazines full of ugly riced out cars to base their style off of. Just like last night.. I went to take a look at my cat back exhaust system.. And these kids my age were there buying Decals, plaques, neon washer nossles (for a neon), neon wire, neons, and asking about the cheap (but huge) $99 dollar mufflers.. One of them had a Neon with 14" american racing chrome wheels, looked ridiculous, the muffler looked like it had been forced under his bumper and stuck out about 4 inches and was about 2 inches off the ground... He had purple tint from using amonia products to clean it and last of all when he drove off he lean so far back i swear his seat was resting on the back seats.. The next guy had a torquoise toyota paseo with chrome hub caps, neon washer nossles, 20% tint, the same style of muffler sticking out and almost touching the ground, not to forget the silver banner across the top of his windsehild.. The third guy actually had a nice car... he had an accord... 1995 i think... With konig rated Rs, altezza lights, clear bumper lights, and 20% tint, however again he went with the same style muffler except this one was a bomb muffler... I pull up in my 4g that looks Ghetto right now.. Since it is missing the filler peice between the bumper and the hood and has no exhaust.. They are leaning on my giant box that contains my exhaust system I walk in give dave they reciept and make an appointment to get it install (I wanted to but didnt want to deal with throwing away my old exhaust)... When I first walk in all these kids are snickering at me I even heard one say man thats a ghetto POS.... I didn't say anything or look at them but when the found out it was my exhaust that cost more than all the mods on their cars combined the started whispering and shit saying damn i wonder how much that cost wheres he get that money selling drugz.. Anyways the point of the story is that ricers are cheap and spend all the money that they have on shitty parts and cheap mods.. On a side note.. Dave who is the man at Tokyo Image Motorsports owns a Civic EK painted Type-R yellow.. With Tenzo-R wheels, JDM rear spoiler, JDM front conversion, 20% tint, Carbon Fiber hood, I think its a 5zigen fireball cat back system, and yes last but not least a modded LS/VTEC.. That thing flys..
