Re: Question about getting a system
Quote:
and as far as your question about placement of components goes: You can be creative. Car audio is a medium for expression. You can customize your car however you like. Put your speakers any place you see fit.

Re: Question about getting a system
Something to think about is... 1. How long will you have your saturn before you get the camaro? 2. How often will someone be riding in the back of the saturn (and camaro when you get it)? 3. If you want great sound in the saturn and camaro best thing to do is get 2 sets of 6 1/2" components and they can be your choice either 2 or 3 way (which means either a 6 1/2" speaker and a small tweeter or a 6 1/2" speaker a smaller speaker and then a tweeter). Then you can put the component speakers in each door if you have a 4 door or in the front doors and the rear deck and then be inventive of where to put the tweeters, and then get a 4 channel amp to power the speakers. That would work out good as when you get the camaro you can put the speakers from the doors of your saturn in the doors of it and the speakers either from the rear doors or the rear deck into the side pillars for the back seat of the camaro and then get a sub or two for the camaro to give it that extra push.

Re: Question about getting a system
Awesome advice.
What about a headunit? Don't I need one of those to? So I assume that a set of components is about $200? (components)200x 2 = 400. (headunit, no idea, $200 again?) 200+400 = 600 (Amp, again.. no idea) 200+600 = $800. Mighty expensive. Is there any way to make it a little cheaper? I don't want to go all out right away.

Re: Question about getting a system
You can get set of 2 or 3 way speakers for the rear and save yourself a ton of money, and compnents are made for the best sq possible. You can go the multi compnenet setup but its a lot cheaper to go with compnents up front and 2 ways in the rear. ANd look on ebay you can get good sets of componenet speakers for less than 100. Same with HU i bought my girl a panasonic for her car off ebay it was 218 shipped we went to circuit city mainly so i could fuck with the little car audio fucks who try to pawn off sony and pyle. Well exact same HU was 435 in circuit city. You can do HU speakers, and an amp for less then 600.

Cant remember who posted it but if you see it give yourself credit Don't ever look at cars as just imports or domestics. Just because a car is made in a certain country doesn't mean that it is anything like another car from that country. An example of this is Mitsubishi reliability, just because they are Japanese doesn't mean that they are as reliable as a Honda or Toyota. Cardomain |

Re: Question about getting a system
I have no speakers further back than the subs in the front door. The deal is, almost all recordings are in 2 channel stereo - designed to be played by a pair of speakers in front of you. Playing a stereo recording thru a "surround sound" type system will always sound unnatural.
A 3-way front stage is tough to pull off ... an 8" midbass can only be installed in a few places up front. The resulting sound of a 3 way sound stage up front is usually very good though if it's tuned correctly. |
