Re: Alright,Explain this one to me please.

I drive mostly highway miles. That one time it did happen was just luck, i don't know. I believe it's a 24 gallon tank. Now it was low, however the gas warning light never did come on. I was reading on the board a few months ago how a guy keeps his rpm below 2 rpm to save gas. After reading that i gave it a shot, i'm getting about 17-19 mpg depending on the people i drive next to that week. I already check my MPG everytime i fill up,matter of fact i have a calculator in my truck just for it. I know maybe i'm crazy, but i ahve a system. fill up tank, check tires, come back next week ,repeat.

Hey careless thunder. I live in Clayton now. Just outside of Raleigh on hwy 70. My sister and brother in law ran a few restaurants in Jacksonville for a while, I think they still have one on base there. The andy's chain of burgers and cheesesteaks. I grew up in Mt. Olive about an hour from jacksonville.

Re: Alright,Explain this one to me please.

I've got the Crew Cab with the 4.8 and I can get 400 miles out of a 26 gallon tank. I usually put 22-23 gallons in it, therefore, I am gettin appr. 18.1 miles to the gallon. That is in a crew cab.

That V6 has to work harder to move the same mass that a V8 can move easier, therefore less stress less gass.
But if you are correct.. then that's great! But I have read several posts on here where the V6 does not get that much better gas millage than a V8.
I belive him because I turned 500 mi tonight and still have a half a tick above a quarter of a tank. All ya gotta do is drive the speed limit. My normal commute is 10% county roads, 80% 55 mph hwy, 10 % 70 mph hwy with out many stop lights. (my last truck got traded at 105K with the original brakes)

Re: Alright,Explain this one to me please.

I have a v6 with tonneau cover tune and I can only get 18 mpg max. The first 1/4 tank 135 miles half 250 then it goes quick.

If I can get between 220-250 miles by 1/2 tank then I am going pretty good. But like you said.. after the 1/2 mark it goes by pretty quick.
