80 HP? You're kidding, right?

80 HP is a B18c5 - the Integra Type R engine - a tuned B-18 with DOHC VTEC (In other words, a performance VTEC on both the intake and exhaust valves, we only have exhaust), performance pistons, high compression, excellent header, exhaust, and intake.

80 HP on a D16y8 is serious forced induction.

That being said, I agree that you first need to learn to use your power not your torque. One key way to do this is to keep your speed up in corners. There are driving techniques that will help this - if you want to learn them, then I recommend starting by autocrossing. Also good tires will go a long way in this area.

However, there is one relatively simple, inexpensive modification you can do to really help handling: A rear swaybar of approximately 19mm diameter. I would recommend the same Suspension Techniques bar I have. Its cheap, its good, and it has very good mounting brackets (the most important part of a swaybar. This will help you keep those revs up around corners - which will increase your fun a great deal.

Dude you're a butthole. There's a huge ass difference between a Maxima and a Civic, they aren't anything alike, and anyone in a Max who feels cool for beating a Civic is a fucking toolbox. That's like me going "It's so cool when a TL smokes a Sentra".

if you really want torque, then go with a B20 or a H22. Thatll give you some serious power.

your very right. only problem is stroking a honda is it isnt as easy as stroking a 350 or a windsor motor. those are time honored motors with a shitload of parts available or like youve done simply swap parts from another motor (to make what i believe is the best stroked motor, a 383, kudo's to you on that) to do the job. most parts for hondas are only swapable with thier own series of blocks like d,b,h,f so taking the crank from an h22 and trying to use it on a d series motor isnt gonna fit first off and second if it did it would throw the balance of the motor off so bad it would probably crack a cylinder wall or egg a rod on the first start. so d series owners are stuck with a 1.6 liters crank or from what ive seen no stroker kits to date except custom fab'd ones. b series owners have some options but they cost so damn much its rediculous like the toda or crower stroker kits and to only gain .2 liters in displacment you have to wonder why why the hell you woudl even do it. same goes for butting a b18 crank in a b16, .2 liters extra and a shitty balanced motor just doesnt really appeal to me. the h series has the h23 crank but again, what a waste unless your motor is toast and you need a new crank anyway.

i dont know i could go on for hours about why a 4 cylinder is a waste to stroke but would rather not. its just when you have displacement to begin with stroking can get you good things, when you dont its really a waste when all you can get out of it is an extra .1 or 2 liters.

basically if you want torque on your 4 banger turbo/supercharge it.

if you want real torque, buy a car with a v8 in it.

actually, I just think it's funny how civic owners think they're cars are so fast. I used to be one of them. I had I/H/E and I would think my car was fast, then I wasn't even fast enough to pass a school bus.

Dude you shouldnt try to make a civic cx a performance car... what were you thinking? The only good Nissans are Sentra SE-Rs and the Zs new and old, if you arent owning those nissans you have no bragging rights whatsoever.. My friends CRX si beat a 1999 Maxima by two car lengths.. Two! and the maxima's engine sounded even whinner than the rex's lil 1.6liter 4banger .. BTW why are you even in a honda forum if you dispise them so much??

Yeah I loved that post! The corvette retired his name on the forum and has never posted there since! Not only did the civic beat him but he beat him by car lengths...

yeah one flaw in that though, do all the same mods to a corvette and it will consume you for lunch, spit you up and eat you again for dinner.

i own 2 hondas, i like them, but seriously people there is no replacement for displacement, and no not even a turbo.

yeah but some people like imports. that's a stupid thing to bring up. that's like seeing a fully built crx beat a prelude and saying. "yeah but what if the prelude had all those mods" it still lost. and one day it might have all those mods but it doesn't. and more power to him for beating that v8 monster. with a little 4 cyl

Wow another mod this and mod that arguement. Aside from that, there isn't a lot to do with that Civic to gain torque. I doubt you are going to have the money to swap out the engine if you just bought the car (I dont remeber if you said it was new), that might invalidate any warrenty you have.

Putting on a turbo is the only practicle method you have of adding any significant torque to the car. The simple bolt ons will help it get some HP but it wont help on the low side.

lol, anyone with a turbo ever challenged ur car when you only have i/h/e, its a bit unfair, i raced a turbo gsr and needless to say i was left by some car lengths, it does matter that the corvette wasnt turbo charged, cause as much money as it took to make that 4 cyl run lower then 13's(thats wat new z06 runs) you could have spent half that on the corvette and done tramendously bettter, but on a car like a corvette doing anything like that would depreciate the value a lot. Dont say it would my uncle ownz a viper thatz pushing 650hp and if he took it to a dealer he'd be lucky to get 30k, and its a 98... 4 cyl can be made to rival vipers and so on, stock vipers yes they can, but slap that 100 shot on the viper like that civic has and its a whole new ballgame.. You cant compare a 10 litre engine to a 1.6 unless you have 25k to drop on the 4 cyl...
