Shizzniz, installing another web browser won't fix your DNS problem. Reverting from XP to Win98 is not a good move either.
If opening a command prompt (cmd) is crashing your computer, Windows XP probably has a fairly serious corruption, so I recommend reinstalling that first.
When you can get to a command prompt, do the ipconfig/all and post your results, and we'll try to troubleshoot your DNS issues.
