Some of the things on my first list...

Some of the things I had on my list when I was 21... that I wanted to do by 30... (the actual list is a lot longer)

- Complete my professional papers (done)
- Some career goals (some got done others got changed)
- Travel and work overseas (done)
- Marry my girlfriend @ the time (nope that didn't work out - I'm still not married yet)
- Have some children (nope - and I still don't think I'm responsible or ready to do a good job at it)
- See the America's Cup in San Diego (done)
- Ski in Canada (done)
- Buy a House (done)
- Pay it off (nope, but I did a little later)
- Learn to Dive (done)
- Spend two years in London (not done, but after visiting I'm kind of glad I didn't)
- Meet new friends (done)
- Learn a new language (nope I got fluent with a language while I was working overseas but promptly forgot it)
- Buy a new car (I managed to do that a few times)
- Finish another university degree (nope - but I finished a post-graduate diploma last year and have another one partly completed)
- Do some work in the community (I have done some but not as much as I would have liked)
- Made a difference to others lives (I'm still working on that)
- Have one helluva big party @ 30 with lots of my friends (ooohhh I can only vaguely remember that night boy did we tear up the town!)

Some of the things I wanted to do by 40...

- Have a long-term relationship with someone special to me
- Find that someone special!
- Be loyal to my friends, family and others I care about
- Complete my advanced and then master diver certificate
- Travel overseas every year
- Visit Europe (done - but I'm going again)
- Visit Canada again
- Some more career goals
- Coach a sport
- Help somebody every day
- Learn patience and wisdom (I think I'm going to fail on that one)
- Learn to be responsible and mature enough to consider kids
- Build a GT40 replica
- Learn something new each day
- Experience as much as I can

I can only hope that each of you can accomplish at least some what you hope to achieve. I felt that my life had no meaning all throughout high school and college until I accidentally met the woman I would one day marry. we were together for 7 years before we married finally last year. we have two cildren together and I believe that my purpose in life is to help better the lives of those around me in any way I can; be it a "hello" or sending somebody from the car modelling forum a part or two without charge. I get a sense of satisfaction from seeing others happy for the right reason. Who's to say we even have a true purpose but I believe we do whether we know what it is or not. darkness, I hope you find something to help you along your journey because by your statement, you've already proven yourself a worthy competitor in the "human race". May you all find peace and enlightenment. :coolguy:

I am a freshman in college right now and i've been pondering the same thing. Let me tell you that with all of the silly goals we set in life there is one certianty-love. Humans are social beings and without true companionship in our lives we are miserable.
