The reason being is that borla is the only maker of an n/a exhaust. If you want a nice sounding exhaust that'll run you a fortune get borla. If you want a nice sounding exhaust that'll be just as good in performance get it done at a custom shop for cheaper. If you want a nice exhaust get one from a stock VR4.

Re: Best Muffler Look

Hmm I don't think Borla is the only N/A exhaust. Mine is "Pilot", or at least thats what it says on the mufflers. Maybe Pilot is a sub-company of Borla?

Re: Best Muffler Look

The stock is nice. Could I just throw in some new mufflers to give it a better sound?

Re: Best Muffler Look

What do you think about these mufflers. I was looking at the exhaust setup. It looks like there is a muffler in the middle of the piping. Could I just throw these on the back or would I have to remove anything else in along the piping?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-GRE...QQcmdZViewItem

Edit: Just an idea, I think I might get a flame thrower kit for it too. The only downside would be is that I'd have to remove the cats and when the fuel goes through the cylinders unburned it washes some of the oil off the cylinder walls. I don't want to threaten the life of my car though. Anyone else ever tried this?

They were on the car when I bought it. I don't think you can get the tips anymore, the guy said they were $75 a piece. More pics at www.doecentral.com

Re: Best Muffler Look

I just got my 98 3000GT SL two weeks ago and I went to a muffler place here in town to inquire about a increasing the tone and free up some horses. He was going to use a Magnaflow #12198($174.99) 2 custom pipes at ($42.99ea.), 3 southern hangers($7.99ea.), 2 brackets($$3.25ea), 2 SS tips($55.00ea)for an estimate of $435.97. I went on Ebay and found the muffler for a third of his cost and the other items 1/2 or cheaper. This was going to go from after the cats. I have found me a Race/test pipe for $35 shipped and now looking for a downpipe.

^your exhaust = teh suckage!!!!

As far as I know, borla is the only maker of an n/a exhaust... maybe the mufflers are just pilot for yours morphius
and sl3000gt, If I were you, I'd start off with headers and than work my way down.

What sLADe781 & liquidPunk said. I agree

Question Re: Best Muffler Look

Well, some of you may not agree, but here's what I'm gonna do for my vr4 when I get back from aghanistan. I'm no mechanic so if anyone sees a problem in performance with this setup, please let me know..
I'm thinkin..... Flowmaster 40 series w/ delta flow single tip (for both sides)
http://www.racerpartswholesale.com/flomstr1a.htm
and...... Ractive Wide Oval Exhaust Tips (silver)
http://www.autobarn.net/raunextip.html

What'cha think?
