Re: Powershifting

Just do it the way its susposed to be done, regular shifting, just faster.

Even if you powershift the revs are still going to catch in the same place once the rpms drop drop from being revved so high since the gas and clutch are both pushed in. Powershifting just conpensates for that split second you have to let off the gas to shift, but if you can shift fast the normal way there's no reason to powershift and your car will live to race another day.

Re: Powershifting

rev match. memorize where your rpm ends up after each shift, then just slip the shifter into neutral right after you let off the gas, then wait till the rpm drops and you should feel the shifter start to slip in, then shove it in gear. you may grind your first many times but youll get to feel it. or if your shifting say, 3rd to 2nd, do the same but instead of letting the rpm drop, stab the throttle so the rpm jumps to where 2nd gear would be at that speed, then throw it in gear.

Re: Powershifting

speaking of shifters. why do some shifters come wiht a 4-bolt plate instead of a 6 bolt?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWN%3AIT as it will not mount up correctly..

Re: Powershifting

the 4 bolt fits the 240sx. at least in canada it does. that picture is obviously NOT what the actual product looks like. the real one will have a rectangular base, not square.

If men like paying for unneeded transmission work. Then I'm a lil boy.

Bangin gears like that, although may get you a few tenths of a second ahead of your opponent, decreases the life of your transmission/diff exponentionally with that nice harsh shock each shift.

I did it once in my LS1, didn't care for the sound it made. Won't do it again...

Re: Powershifting

isnt the ultimate goal to be fast enough to were you dont need to power shift. Shit i just wana stay in 3rd and win lol. Not even worth a downshift. Okay thats in a dream world but still, if you have enough power im sure you could take out some honda's.

Wait i did do that to an eclipse (non turbo duuuur). Roll patrol obviously. But i stayed in 3rd....and still got the jump.....and the W. LOL that was the first day i learned how to drive a stick too.....not to mention the first day i even had the car.
