Is D16A6 the 88-91 Si Engine? I was thinking I might get one of those instead of a ZC, and potentially work on that. I don't care for huge gobs of power, I'm actually pretty happy with what I have, but a little more Torque wouldn't hurt. And plus my engine is almost at 200,000 so how long can it really keep going anyway.

yes the 88-91 si motors are the D16a6's. hey Ami, do you have your old si motor laying around doing nothing?

I bet she does have it lying around, but if i remember the only reason she swapped was cause she was tired of it giving her problems.

okay, here's the deal...i drove that bad boy for a year & 1/2 no troubles. best friend broke his spine on vacation up by bend which is approx. 300 miles away. went there every weekend for 3 months..no problem. one day i'm chillin' outside and start messing around under the hood. pull a spark plug and found oil. figured i'd do the smart thing and get the head gasket replaced. while i was at it, had a spare head machined. didn't have time to work on the car (middle of winter) so i did what ended up being the worst thing ever. i took it to a mechanic car then went through 2 head gaskets in 3 months. it started acting up a third time i decided to yank it.

but it gets worse. the first time the head was off, jer went and looked at it. he saw the first cylinder wall was grooved. that doesn't suprise me. i'm sure the previous owner was extremely hard on it. i think he was a mid-life crisis wanna be racer. it was lowered and had a glasspack (and some coffeecan size tip).

i honestly have no idea what i'll do with the engine. i do know i wouldn't feel right selling it to anyone...unless they were expecting to spend $$$ tearing it all down and rebuild/machine the bottom end. ya know?
