re

Actually i have a WRX.

And no offense cause i love the spec v, but i eat them for breki lunch and dinner, on the hwy and street all day long.

I will race one anywhere anytime anyplace.

BTW i have 3" cat back with injen cai and with some other minor mods and i ran a 13.88 @98 mph on the weekend at grand bend moto plex, so no spec is gonna touch me...althoough i wanna buy one and put a tubo on it...should be a fun car to drive after its TC'ed.

PEACE

Ya the T/C'ed Spec V is gona kick ass.. that i am waiting for but a T/C'ed MP3 is nice too, i dont know about the 200hp 250tq part unlikely, but still a posibility. I just wish they didnt over charge you so much for the MP3. Well MP3 V's Spec V good bet is both are gona be great but we wont realy know till Nismo hurries there arsses, and the new MP3 comes out. but i still think the Spec V is worth more dollar for dollar, pound 4 pound!! greata car, just wish they would do something bout the ass

But the WRX part nope im surprize you guys even beat it (those that say they do) but the WRX is a great car in it self. Cant beat an AWD T/C'ed beast!!! much like what the Spec V is too, just 6-7 grand less
:sun: :flash:

ONCE AGAIN, I never said that the SpecV's can beat the WRX off the line in a quarter mile. All I'm saying is that on the highway or after going about like 50mph, the car can hang with one. From experiece when my boy let get like a car head start he never caught up to me, that is the GOD honest truth. Wait a minute, Super SpecV guy. Aren't you the one who was debating with me whether or not a SpecV could hang with a stock WRX on the highway awhile back? I remembered that you never believed me and you never called my boy who has one to actually hear it from his side of the story. You can eat SpecV's for breakfast, lunch and dinner all you want but the fact still stands whether you wanna believe it or not, a SpecV can hang with a stock WRX highway wise. Now once they get modded up then that's a different story all together, then I have nothing to argue about.

LOL so it's coming with a TC. So what? If the hp's about even now slap a TC/SC on yourn and smoke'em. I'm no expert but I see no problem here. Sure let them have fun and tweak up after the TC but if you slap on one of your own what's the problem? other than $$$ lol
Peace,

Stock for stock its going to be all about the driver of that car...
It's really driver vs. driver...

And baby sky is right about the wrx. My buddy has one and were close as hell when we're fooling around on good ole I95. :bandit:

Finally somebody else out there who knows what the hell I'm talking about. As far as the new Mazda goes it's deffinatley going to be about who is the more experienced driver.

the mazdaspeed protege (ms-p) actually puts down more hp to the wheels, but the same amount of torque. (151hp@5800, 150 lb-ft@3800 at the wheel)

check out the article in october issue of sport compact car.
the ms-p does the slalom at 72mph (ffaast)

in the canadian market, the spec-v with sports package's msrp went up $900 to $24,898. There is speculation that the ms-p will be anywhere
from 25,500-27,0000. Considering all that you get in this ms-p, it'll definitely be a bargain like the spec-v, but a little higher in price (actual pricing not confirmed). note, the ms-p does not have a sunroof so that $ is spent on other goodies for the ms-p (sparco aluminum pedals, short shifter+sparco shift knob, kenwood KDC-MP919 headunit with a msrp of $480-$600 USD).

plus, the ms-p is a factory turbo with warranty. also the ms-p is contructed in japan (better fit/finish etc)
lots of pluses.
not to say the spec is no good, it's a great car, but since i can afford the ms-p, i gotta go for it =)

True, but...

I hear everything you are saying, but...Mazda and Ford are in partnership. Eventually the "quality" (read crappy) of Ford will rub off on all the mazda's. Plus, do you really want to put any money in Ford's pocket?

protege's are STILL protege's unscathed by ford at the moment. so no, your comment doesn't apply. Sure you can say that about the tribute (essentially a ford escape).

oh, and i fully expect the next generation of protege to be more focus like at which point of course i'll dislike ford even more for assimilating mazda, something i hope they really don't do.

HAHA I95, i love that highway, we flipped a white centra on I95.

anyway i'm in no hurry to start contradicting people but i mean the times are almost identical and the mazda is a turbo... now add a turbo to a spec V and... well you would probably screw a mazdaspeed MP3 sideways in reverse, you're looking at a 4cyl N/a and a 4cyl Turbo with almost identical times, if you even them up by adding that lovely TC to your spec V. BAM! you would probably even smoke some lightly modded WRX's (maybe not off the line but you know)... please correct me if i'm wrong, i can't talk from experience but maybe someone can.

that's a commonly used argument; HOWEVER, at what cost to add a turbo to the spec?????

with a factory, all the hardware is already there and simple upgrades here and there you got lots more power vs the ton of $ you'd have to spend on the spec.

besides, there are even better times for the mazdaspeed protege (ms-p) out now.

Re: Upcoming Mazdaspeed should we worry?

Wow, talk about resurrection of a dead thread

1 - the mazdaspeed has been out for a while, over a year
2 - it has a turbo 2.0
3 - it's slower than a stock spec, no need to worry
