Re: 6 second DSM

Shep also runs the turbo sticking out of the front of the car, but his is in the front bumper while I believe Brent's is up on the hood. Many of the fast turbo cars do this, to force more air into the turbo when the car is at speed. I'm sure you guys have heard me say this many times, but a turbo is a pressure multiplier, capable of multiplying pressure by some factor (left line on the map, pressure ratio). More pressure in means more pressure out And better efficiency as well.

As far as I know Shep did indeed by the BR RWD at last years Shootout. He did say at the time that he had no intentions of replacing his talon with it though, and he did in fact continue to improve his times in his car. Perhaps he'll build it to run in one of the other classes. I'd like to see both cars competeting this year, but he is a regular workin man after all

And the announcer does say that is NRP, and it sure looks like it. That is a pretty huge track (compared to New England Dragway and other local tracks at least), and I love running there at the Shootout.

Re: 6 second DSM

I was gonna go up to Norwalk last year but never got the chance because of working all the time. I hope to make it up there this year for the shootout. It looks like a really nice track...

Re: 6 second DSM

not yet.... I got 4k saved and I'm still saving up money... I'm really having trouble trying to figure out what I want to get. All the Transam's have decided to go up in price. 22k is common now on autotrader in my area. And I was thinking about getting a SRT-4, but those bastards are trying to sell for 21k-23k. So I'm might just try and save about 4-5k more and get myself an evo/sti or something.

Re: 6 second DSM

Oh man, you definetly need to go with a Trans Am and then turbocharge it. lol You should look for a Trans Am in other areas besides yours. You can pick up a 98-00 Trans Am with about 30-40k miles up here for 8-12k easy. They look sexy as hell too.

Re: 6 second DSM

Replaced the tranny 4 times.... and also after I got hit by that semitruck... I never quite felt the same about it. I mean, it was fast, hella fast. But I only had it for like a month before something happened where it would be out of commision. It got so bad, that the dealership service department would say, see you in a month. So I had to sell it.

About the Trans-Am. We're suppose to be moving to Texas soon, and I know it should be easier to find one out there for cheaper. So I might just wait until then.

I have a ton of respect for shepard because his car is still "stock" and not a chopped modified eclipse/tube frame. But his goal is completely different than that of someone like Brent. Brent is setting records for fastest 4-cylinder period. Not just the fastest "stock" DSM. I have a lot of respect and admiration for both men.

Not true. Sheps 2.0L stock body AWD is the fastest awd 4 cyl and the second AWD EVER to run 7s.

Its been a while since I was on Shep's website, I didn't know he had broken into the 7's. Thats amazingly fast for being a "stock" car. Shep is my hero.

Re: 6 second DSM

I guess Shep's car is lightened by like 600 pounds though. I always thought it was full stock weight before I did some research. Can't wait till this summer for some quicker numbers and new videos!
