Aaarrrggg!
Since my flowmasters made too much noise in the cab while driving 70mph, I had them taken off and they told me to go with the flowmaster 70 series. So I did. They are sad. Can't hear sound at all. They literally sound stock. I'm so unhappy. Surely there is a muffler that will give me some noise, WITHOUT dropping $800.
Any ideas? Trey |

Re: Exhaust Help!!!!!!
Hey guys and gals, any opinions on the Vortex mufflers on a 5.3 Vortec compared to the mufflers mentioned in this thread, like cab noise at 65/70 mph, performance gains, etc ? Thanks

Re: Exhaust Help!!!!!!
Why don't you guys just do without the muffler like I did.. sounds much better than a flowmaster. All you have to do is put in a Y-pipe and have the pipes run out the back.. will most no more than $400 if that! YOu will get the gurthy sound without the incab noise

Re: Exhaust Help!!!!!!
I have a FLO-PRO 747 on my truck, single in single out. It has a really nice sound at start up, along with a pleasing highway sound. You can hear it, but not too loud. I pull a camper and did not want the muffler to drone while under load. The FLO-PRO is cheaper than the Flowmaster, it is quality build, and has a nice, distinct sound. Mash the gas and hear it roar! You can go to the FLO-PRO website, flopro.com and check out the sound clips. The one that I have is like the one installed on the Lincoln Navigator clip. I think it is a FlO-PRO 767. Anyway, it cost me a flat $100 installed using my factory pipe. I bought a weld-on stainless steel tip from Ebay for $25 to add a little shine.

Re: Exhaust Help!!!!!!
I love the sound of my flowmasters. I don't think they sound to loud in the cab, but after having a 67 camaro with straight pipes, nothing sounds loud to me anymore.

Re: Exhaust Help!!!!!!
I just finished installing a magnaflow cat back on my silverado. Very nice piece and fit very well. Hardest part was getting the old system out, and drilling out the bolts on the head pipe. Very quiet, almost too quiet!
