Re: How Many Miles Does Your 4.3 Have
I have a 01 with 112,000 miles on it. It runs great, I'm probably due for a good tune up. I recently replaced a wheel bearing. I also flushed the cooling system & replace it with "green".

Re: How Many Miles Does Your 4.3 Have
Mine just hit 141000. Runs absolutely great, only problem I've had to date is the water pump, which I had to change last summer - not a big deal. Truck is a 1998 2-door Blazer.

Re: How Many Miles Does Your 4.3 Have
I can't say I've been impressed by my 93 S-10 Blazer. I had a lot of issues while it was under warranty (30,000 or 3 yrs.). A pretty crappy warranty compared to others I've had in the past.
Right now I'm showing 100,175 miles but my odometer took a crap somewhat before 100,000 miles. It jammed solid and took the odometer motor with it. As best as I could tell based on previous mileage, it crapped out at about 100,000 miles, so that's what I set it to when I cleared the jam-up (it wasn't easy to clear since the unit is tamper-proof). Recently, I replaced the radiator and hoses, water pump, cpi (spider and nut kit), battery, alternator, windshield wiper switch, windshield washer pump (second time), rear window struts, Odometer motor, ammeter (self repaired), oil filter-coolant line o-ring/gasket, Broken spring in drivers side door latch. With the exception of the battery, I would call these premature failures and not maintenance related. Earlier, while under warranty, there were problems with air leaks in the intake manifold, front end suspension problems (replaced front coil springs), premature tire wear (gross one-sided wear on the front tires) which the dealer said was corrected but wasn't, replaced plug wires (really?) Recalls of the ABS system, and LEGR system. This seems like a case study of GM putting out a product that had great long term appeal to a loyal customer group but chose the short term in product quality. I'll bet the CEO got a HUGE bonus for selling a lot of crap and here we are today with the grand prospect of GM in Chapter 11. (or is it 7?) The money they give to CEOs could buy a lot of product quality. When will the company boards figure that out? |

Re: How Many Miles Does Your 4.3 Have
well my 98 pickup just turned 118000 ish, checked the oil, brought it to the shop, and the intake poped in 35 seconds of driving, but, it spewed in, so i considered her dead (machanic, work at a shop, seen what happens to A LOT of vehicals that pop inside and you flush them, its already to late for the bearings/bottum end in general) but, shes being reserected this spring with a vortec 350 to replace the vortec 4.3

Re: How Many Miles Does Your 4.3 Have
I have a 1992 Jimmy (CPI) vortec, with 68,000 miles.
I’ve replaced the plugs, distributor cap and rotor. I’ve cleaned the EGR a few times, and always change the oil, about every month with a new filter using synthetic. She’s running great, although she is eating a little coolant. |

Re: How Many Miles Does Your 4.3 Have
I have a 91 4.3 TBI with 235000 change oil every 3000 -5000 miles. The engine will probably outlast the body. Had a 2.8 with 320000 when I sold it. 93 Blazer vortec with 190000 has a loud knock not driving right now. May part it out.
