Talking good point!

awesome point scotty! they should at least put out like...350 Turbo versions and make them limited edition or somethin... at least have a few... just cuz they arent "good sellers" doesnt mean they shouldnt make them....there still are people who would want a turbo one.

Its pretty well known that 90's japanese sports cars didn't sell because they became too expensive during a recession due to costly turbo systems. Nissan is toying with the idea of a turbo 350z but they are waiting to see what will happen with the NA version first.

And the new 350z is the fastest Z ever.

1996 300zx TT 0-60 in 6.5 sec / Quarter in 15.0 sec
2003 350z 0-60 in 5.4 sec / Quarter in 14.1 sec

Those are the specs for the N/A 300zx.
The TT specs are almost matching up exactly with the new 350z, and actually a little faster.

Hmmm, I got my stats from www.supercars.net but that did seem a bit slow. It listed the NA 300zx at 7.1 0-60 and 15.5 1/4 mile. No matter, even if it is "just as fast" which is good enough for me.

They should at least do limited runs of them...they would really have something then. The car is cool as is, that would take it to the next level and not much would touch it then.

just wait

yall need to just chill out for a while. the 350 isnt even out yet. i odnt know who knows their 79- 96 z cars, but if nissan comes out with a new type of z car, then a turbo should come within the next 2 model years. it too until 82 to come out with the 280 zx turbo when the first 280 zx was in 1979. the turbo wil come and if thats what you want, just wait to get it.

I don't think it should be turbo. The car will be as powerful as the upcoming Skyline, and no one will buy the Skyline. Nissan would lose a ton of money, maybe go bankrupt. That would mean no more Z cars.

I don't think they will make a turbo without making some changes to the car first.

My service guys over at Nissan aren't looking forward to the 350's.

The engine bay is essentially the exact same size engine bay as the 300ZX's were, but they've put a bigger engine. Hard to work on, it is VERY crowded. Any turbo maker will have a challenge ahead of them due to the lack of space

I dont think Nissan is gonna come up with a turbo version 350Z. Nissan was hoping that the 350Z will change the company's situation around. That's why they want to make the Z as reliable (N/A) as possible. Their goal is to sell 30-40K Zs a year.

Lightbulb

Shouldn't be too hard to figure out if Nissan is at least keeping the turbo option open. Turbos, intercoolers and their intake and exhaust plumbing all take up room.

A check under the hood of 90-96 NA 300-ZX's shows the empty spaces which are all filled up in a TT.

Anyone have an oppotunity to take a look?

(Still here driving my old faithful 91 TT)

Thumbs down

If Nissan were to make available a turbo version, then they would back in the same boat as they were when they had the 300ZX TT. They would have a car that wouldn't sell. The 350Z was designed to be the "back to basics" type of Z, like the original. That means a lot of performance, styling, and value for the money.

If someone were to really want to F/I the 350, there is always aftermarket. If you are worried about voiding the waranty but really wants F/I, then the 350Z is not for you. Why not get a used 300ZX? I still think those are really nice cars. For the price, you still have money left over to make it a monster.

Cheers.

Just so you know, the new 350Z does come in a turbo. I have a japanese 350Z guid a friend in japan sent to me. In it there is a picture of the new 350Z Turbo. And from what i can decipher from the japanese it carries a 4.5 litre V8 producing about 350 HP. If i had a scanner id post the pic and the article, believe me its the most beautiful Z yet.
