Re: In Progress: Tamiya 1/20 Lotus 25 Jim Clark 1963
Wow that is beautiful, and little touches like the brake lines really finish it well.
May have to pick that kit up now! |

Re: In Progress: Tamiya 1/20 Lotus 25 Jim Clark 1963
Thanks for your support guys.
There is a lot to commend this model... Its a nice car to build, there are plenty of reference photos to find through Google images, and looks great once done. Its was the first car to feature a monocoque construction which is still used in F1 today. It won 7 of the 10 Grand Prix in 1963 making Jim Clark and Lotus the world champions. Oh, and did I mention... no CF :-) |

Turned out really well. I especially love the group shot with the FW24, almost 40 years of development and rule changes makes for a startling comparison.

Re: In Progress: Tamiya 1/20 Lotus 25 Jim Clark 1963
Thanks Rallyraider.
I had to include that photo as seeing the evolution due to technology and rule changes is one of the reasons I like keeping to F1 cars in 1/20th. I couldnt believe how small the car was when I was putting it together and had to check again that Tamiya hadn't suddenly shoved a 1/24th model into the collection! What that photo doesnt demonstrate is how low the car is as well. Apart from the rollbar, the car is lower than the wheels! Given the small dimensions it is no wonder that so many driver lost their lives in F1 at that time. The best way I can describe the car is that it is a canoe with wheels :-) |
