Re: Does your car idle like it should?

b16 = perfect idle.. however I need a bigger battery, idle slightly drops when i have my system pumped, and the headlights on.

Re: Does your car idle like it should?

B16 - Nice steady around 700. Never had a stall or big dip. Very happy with it.

Re: Does your car idle like it should?

Question: You people with B16s and 700rpm idle... do you guys ride the clutch to get moving or are y'all constantly dumping it? Don't you have to get up passed 3k rpms to make power?

WTF?! Why would you need to "make power" just to drive the car? I seriously doubt it makes any less power below 3,000rpm than an A6.
Jebus, if you let the clutch out with the rpm anwhere near 3,000 you'd be flying off in smoke everywhere you went.

I don't usually even touch the gas to get the car going and my idle is around 900...

Re: Does your car idle like it should?

the slight inconsistance in idle on the b16 is from the skunk2 intake mani....i just figured i'd take the chance to tell SiZ that my d16 idles better than the b16 :

w00t for 90civicrider's b16!

Re: Does your car idle like it should?

Mine fluctuates before the car is up to temp. Once it is it will idle at 900, then switch to like 1200 for a bit, then down to 750. Fuck, it makes me nuts. I HAVE to fix it this year when I get the car back.

ALL the D series motors I've had idled well. But they were too slow.

Re: Does your car idle like it should?

Mine idles about 1000-1200 when cold, for about 2 minutes....they are supposed to do that arent they? Anyway, on the power thing...If I try to get moving without ANY gas, 1.)the car shudders like a cracked out monkey and 2.) It takes about 5 seconds to get moving, without dying....so at a redlight this is not suitable...

Re: Does your car idle like it should?

FrodoGT, i have 2 questions....
does it run lean?
does it run rich?

if it runs rich then check your hoses to the MAP. if they are okay check the MAP sensor it self.

next check IACV: take 2 screws off the back of the intake mani and you'll find a screen. take out, clean, and replace. follow that by the Fast Idle Control Valve...a plate on the back side of it, take it off and there is a nylon bolt that looks wierd (its slotted) screw it down (all the way in).

let me know how that all turns out boss
