well the only problem i have about tamiya (from what ive heard) is that they only make japanese company models. which is fine if i wanted more toyotas and hondas. but most of the models that id like to build are american made (such as: dodge viper rt/10, chevy corvette zo6 etc.). my question now is does tamiya make alot of american company models??if so then i don't think ill get many more amt models

AMT are not the best kits in the world to buy...there molding is poor and needs lots of work.
Im not getting into the Tamiya/Revell battle as i beleive you build what you want at the time, and what takes your fancy. Ive been building plenty of Fujimi/Tamiya at the moment because thats what i feel like doing at present. Ive done plenty of both brands and its true that Tamiya are by far the better with moldings etc....but with a bit of time spent on a Revell etc you can build a kit that is just as good

SA has too many ads,not enough contest coverage and they've lost most of their good contributors .
There's a new model mag, well not new exactly, with great contest coverage quickly, heavy glossy paper with great pix. Check em out Model Cars Magazine :bandit: Mike

Tamiya is a global company, and they choose subjects based on the sales from both domestic and international market. So, their selection is versatile. http://www.tamiya.com/japan/products/list/24car_1.htm
(BTW, Japanese oriented manufacturers are Fujimi and Aoshima. ) Problem is, the international subjects, such as race cars and exotics sell fairly well around the world including the U.S., but U.S. subjects don't sell in Japan and Europe. So, there are very few exceptions, such as Jeep and Mustang in their recent releases. I think it's Revell/Monogram and AMT's responsibility to release a quality U.S. subjects, since they know about their own market better than anyone. Revell/Monogram kits have improved, and recent releases are pretty good, but AMT needs a lot of homework, and study their competitors. |
