and i've seen one of the new eclipse gt, still had the dealership plates on, looked like mid 20s guy was having fun in it cutting people off, but somehow those new eclipse doesn't turn me on......

Do you mean this?? It's an all wheel drive Eclipse with a 400 hp tuned 4G63 rockin a Rockford Fosgate sound system. Mitsu debuted this car at SEMA not too long ago. I doubt they will sell it anytime soon though, as it would just kill the Evo sales.

I don't think it would. If they did make it, it would probably weigh like 4000 lbs and cost $8000 more then the EVO. I think if Mitsubishi made this car there problem wouldn’t be bad EVO sales, there problem would be trying to sell it. I think the Ralliart version would just magnify the problems with the version that’s out now.

Maybe it’s just me, but a 4000 lbs $35000 Eclipse doesn’t appeal to me.

I see your point, for that much money an Eclipse isn't really on my list of cars to buy. But same engine, same tranny, same AWD, the evo and eclipse would have a lot of similarities, but the 4 door sedan and sport coupe would prolly be enough not to compete too much against each other.

By the way how much did the 2nd gen GSX cost brand new??

speaking of which I just went to the LA auto show like two weeks ago and the ralliart version had a 4g63 in it...........check this pics out from the show........I have tons of pics at the auto show....including the new camaro and alot of bad as concepts that might be in production..........sorry for the thread jack..........oh yeah the srt > eclipse gt of course and plus the eclipse gets real crappy gas milage anyways...

That’s the thing if Mitsubishi can make a 400 hp version of the EVO engine it would make more sense to just put it in the lighter EVO then the heavy-ass Eclipse.

All Mitsubishi needed to do to make a good Eclipse was take the Lancer lighten it by taking off 2-door and put a cool body on it. Instead they base the thing on the Galant, I don’t get it.

they were saying something about discontinuing the evo line and continue the eclipse line..........but I dont know............I like the evo better........but price wise I think thats the whole issue with mitsu.........

i think the whole point of the EVO is AWD turbo on a 4 Door platform

that is the way it has been for 7 incarnations over in japan and what...2-3 over here
