Re: i need a 2001 mazda 626 4 cyl engine... and help

they should be a plastic insert in the flexplate that will make the hole left by the starter a bit larger. just pull the plastic up and out by hand. it just kind of slides into place. (flexplate is the big plate between the engine and trans... you'll see it when you get it out. 1 10mm bolt holds it in.) there are 4 torque converter bolts... turn the crank to line them up with the hole.

i find a 3/8" impact with a 6" extension and a 14mm swivel socket works great. if you haven't taken the support bracket that reaches from the intake to the block (and has two solenoids mounted on it), take the bracket loose and you'll be able to fit your impact in there no problem. 4 14mm bolts should hold that bracket in.

The engine is seized ? Is that why u replacing it . If it is seized i would disconect the pistons from a crank and then try to turned , by the way without a oil pan u will have acces to a converter bolts from a bottom.

Re: i need a 2001 mazda 626 4 cyl engine... and help

ok.. This has been the biggest pain in the butt i have ever had!! stupid stupid stupid stuff has gone wronge!! like the bolts on the exhast are where already striped! (took me like 45 minuts to get them off!!) then the motor didnt just throw a rod but two.. and you where right.. it was also seized so i could not get the torque converter bolts out... so then i pulled out the oil pan and took off the one rod cap it came off nice and easy! and the other one was bent so the bolts didnt come out.. i had to torque the heads off of them and then smash the living shit out of the piston untill finaly it broke loose!! (2-3 hours) finaly i got all the torque converter bolts off! now i cant slide the motor over enuff to pull it! i have tried ever thing that i know.. (not as much as some of you im sure)... i have put a jack under and lifted the converter side of the trany up to see if i could slide it off but that was a no go.. then i tryed jacking the time belt side of the engine.. no go.. then i tried fly wheel side.. no go.. any other idea?? im getting so frusterated i think im going to take a break and cool off cause im pissed! This is my 6th motor swap i have done.. and im sure i have lots more to learn! (this is the first automatic tranny and first non-mitsubishi also this is the fist time pulling the motor with out tranny) so if any one has any idea for me to try.. please let me know.. i just cant seem to get the flywheel far enuff over to clear the bell houseing...

Re: i need a 2001 mazda 626 4 cyl engine... and help

i got a jdm engine... and im only using the long block.. every thing else im using from my engine.. the only senser i used off the jdm motor is the crank sensor... (because mine was fried compleatly.. i mean melted to like.. nothing.) the plug on the wireing harness was not the same so i spliced the old engines clip onto it and it pluged right in (the wires color where the same and same location too...) so i dont know if that may be the problem.. i dont know.. also becuase my old one was fried.. is there a fuse that it might have blown? or somthing that could be messed with my wire harness?

Re: i need a 2001 mazda 626 4 cyl engine... and help

i posted these in off topic under stress relef but i figure i would post them here to show you guys

ok so the first picture is one of the holes life by the a rod...

ok second is the hole from inside by the crank

ok this one is the crank pully (look at all the melted plastick.. it had to be hella hot)

This one is a little harder to tell.. it is the remainder of the crank position senser (that use to be 3 wires!)

this one is the coolent line hose (the side that was close to the block)

this one is the melted plasitc from from where the passanger tire is
