Re: $1500 to spend so tell me what to buy!

Spend however much of the $1500 it takes to get your car in optimal running condition before buying performance parts. If you have the money, buy a new turbo instead of a used one. I bought my Evo16g used from a local guy, and couldn't be happier.

Used 16g and install parts $400
Used boost gauge and pod $50
Cheap mbc $20
Muffler shop exhaust $200
Evo8 560cc injectors $100
Upgraded air filter (stock pipe is fine) $30
1g bov $30
My FMIC setup $300
SAFC I/II $200
Palm pilot and cable for running pocketlogger $150

That's under $1500, and if you take the car to a dyno, you should be able to get 300whp out of it.

You won't reach 300whp on a 14b, so you might as well start with a turbo that will get you there. If you're on a budget, DSMlink isn't practical--unless you will be doing a lot of turbo swaps/track passes. It is just too expensive.

We're all for budget performance on this site, but don't half-ass stuff. You don't have to go all the way with $1500--just get a decent start and finish your upgrade path when you get more money.

Re: $1500 to spend so tell me what to buy!

I feel more comfortable with Shpyder as a mod, and I couldn't justify my silence any longer. Too many DSMers have helped me out on this forum along the way, and I need to pay it forward.

Or at least offer my

Hey, that BOV mod was tight, I might do that shit just for something to do. Actually, I will do that just for something to do.

Good to see someone who's been here longer than me back .

Re: $1500 to spend so tell me what to buy!

The 1g stock BOV holds from 18-21 psi. Crushed properly, you can squeeze a few more pounds out. I think there is a mod on dsmtuners under the articles which can help you hold well over 30 psi on a 1g bov...looks a little tricky but doable. 22psi is a lot of boost for pump gas, especially 91 octane. Once again, I would advise agains the GM Maf unless you absoultly have to vent...I am sure you can configure the translator to work along with the link. Don't forget a few hours on a dyno and a good wide band setup.
