Re: Please Need To Sell Car And Now Car Wont Start!!!!!!

Why does everyone think it's the coil? The car would still turn over with a bad coil. It's probably the starter. But could also be the battery, check the voltage if you didn't already.

Re: Please Need To Sell Car And Now Car Wont Start!!!!!!

Starter prolly has a bad solenoid. Coil has ZERO to do with the starter not turning over.

Re: Please Need To Sell Car And Now Car Wont Start!!!!!!

Same exact thing happened to me!! Day before someone wanted to buy my 91 Talon it wouldn't start. Turns out it was my starter. Cost me $100 for labor and $50 for a used one out of the local salvage yard. (Couldn't take chance of me doing it myself when someone was gonna buy it the next day.)

Good way to test your starter is if your car isn't starting try to get underneath and hit it with a hammer. You have to bang on it kinda hard, not just gentle taps. Then hopefully it'll start and you know it's your starter.

Thats what worked for me. Some new starters that doesn't work on because of the design.

Remember boys and girls, if it don't work hit it with a hammer. If that don't work, get a BIGGER hammer!

Sorry, that was just funny.

Re: Please Need To Sell Car And Now Car Wont Start!!!!!!

Well since you helped me so much with my car ill have to help you with yours. I got a buddy that is having the same problem with his talon and it ended up being the starter. Theres no way its the coil because the motor would still turn. Depending on if you have the turbo motor or not i can tell you were the starter is. On the turbo motors its going to be behind the motor above the tranny but below the Intake Manifold. Kind of a bitch to get to. On the non turbo motors its in about the same place just a little lower on the tranny but still on the back of the motor. Hope this helps.
