I guess the aerodynamics would come into this as well ... the mr2 is really low to the ground too and im sure it has more than 140bhp or maybe thats the jap imports i cant remember hehe. I would think that the mr2 would have no prob at all .

better bhp
better aerodynamics
better engine setup
probly better and thicker tyres

just another thing some of the jap imports u can get r totally mad ... twin turbos and stuff heeh

Ummm... a NA MR2 runs low 16's (16.3ish) stock, I ran a 16.2 with nothing but a short-ram intake. If you can drive you might beat him, with a mid-engine RWD it's easy to bog with that little power so if he doesn't launch perfectly you'll probably win.

Anyhow.. listen.. a CRX is NOT fast. A stock second gen N/A MR-2 is NOT very fast either, but it's a little faster than the CRX, and it'll outhandle that sucker all day long on a real race track.

Start modifying either car and you'll have something somewhat respectable on your hands, but either way it's going to cost you probably $5000 to get into the 13's properly (by 13's range you SHOULD have good brakes, suspension, etc.. cause you can go faster, you better be able to handle the new speeds, as well as new tires on STOCK DIAMETER WHEELS or maybe 1" larger (not frigging 17's that'll slow you down, buy some 14x7 or even 15x7's and slap some 215's or 225's on there).

I don't know how I got on that subject, but anyhow, he'll win right now, I guarantee it. Know why? Because my '92 Civic EX with intake and exhaust (what a waste of money that was.. I coulda spent it on the RX-7).. lost to my buddy's stock '91 N/A MR-2 on the freeway by a long shot.

Oh yeah, and the MR-2 has gearing somewhat like the Integra GS-R and a MUCH larger powerband.

"the MR2 had a kit wing and 17's now I had 14" steelies and was driving hard"

well of course you won. That rice crap on his car weighed him down bigtime - especially the wheels.

A stock CRX (and a CRX with only an intake and a wing counts as stock, I'm sorry - - especially since the extra weight/drag of the wing counteracts the minimal gains seen by the intake) will not beat an MR2 in a straightline drag, but that shouldn't surprise anyone since drag racing was the farthest thing from the CRX designers minds.

Get the MR2 guy to race you in an autocross or through some good twisties and you'll destroy him.

I say he will win, but you gotta take driver skill into the picture. I got beat a while back by a stock crx si, although I have the sohc ZC, which i think has slightly more HP. I also have a muffler, but I doubt that does shit aside from sound cool. I figured i would win cause of the engine, but the 4 door weighs considerably more than the rex. But I did, however take a 96 'EX Coupe. I attributed that victory due to the fact that my car is 400 lbs lighter, and I think he was a shitty driver.

I am by no means a great driver, I have a lot to learn, but I am not all about racing. I am about transport, and being cool, & having fun in the process. I didnt even swap in the ZC, it was in the car when I bought it. (and i didnt find out it was a ZC until later)
