I'm glad someone brought this thread back... I was looking into the whole "he's running DRAG tires" discussion... I have an article where a street Z32 is running 9.1 in the 1/4 with drag radials in Japan... just some FYI. Does anyone know for certain that Greg is running with Drag Slicks?

i am pretty positive he is running slicks...he wouldnt heat the tires up like that if they werent slicks.
FYI: drag radials work good when lightly warmed...you will notice people with drag radials in the burnt out box only do about a 2 second burnout while people with slicks sit there and roast there tires for a good amount of time.

i would like to see that vid of drag radials on a 9 second Z32, those are some amazingly sticky radials. you ahve to remember, slicks have the grip they do because they can wrinkle and flex against the ground. a drag radial will not flex like this, it will break loose before it flexs or wrinkles.

Re: Greg Dupree in the 9's!

Looks like he is saying that he is looking into getting into the 8's... or something along those lines. Shouldn't be too hard.

Re: Greg Dupree in the 9's!

Probably not if he's already running consistant 9.1s. However, it might be almost maxed out by now so getting that extra bit of go might be tough. I dunno.

Re: Greg Dupree in the 9's!

Shouldn't be too hard if he switches to full drag-slicks I think.

look like slicks to me. especially with the big spray painted like M/T on the sidewall?

reguardless, very impressive...i bet there are many 9/10 second Z32's over there. Japanese are much faster with technology than the US.

Re: Greg Dupree in the 9's!

They are definately drag radials, Jason. Mickey Thompson also makes drag radials... maybe you aren't aware of? Also the article repeats "DOT" (Dept. of transportation) like 6 times... DOT is a generic term in Japan BTW...
