Re: WIP: WJ's 2003 Grand Am Pro Stock.

Thanks guys, I am glad you all like the subject.... this is gonna be a really cool car when complete.

Speaking of cages, mine for the most part is done. I scratchbuilt 95% of this cage on the kit chassis frame plate. Everything except the bars behind the driver and the lower engine subframe bars were added using various size plastic tubing. I also added a smalle Front mount gas tank cage since by 2003 NHRA mandated front mounted fuel tanks. If you look closely in the pics you will also see I added bracing for the door hinges by the firewall. One more thing.... the front half of the body has been dissected as well. This thing is in pieces!!! 8) 8)

Re: WIP: WJ's 2003 Grand Am Pro Stock.

this thing is looking pretty sweet!!!

what method do you use to chop up the body. I've got a resin body on the way of my vette, and I'm still pondering the best way to attack the disection

Russell,
I used the back side of a sharp Hobby blade to "scribe out" the doors. It takes alot of patience!!!

Thanks alot everyone. More updates...

CHassis is in paint. I used a mixture of automotive metallics to create a steel grey type color I was after. This will get alot of CF added to the tunnel, door panels, and rear tubbs... then the entire chassis will be buried in clear coat.

Also added some color to the Body panels. I used Wrangler Yellow and Dupont BLue for the back. Added the flag decal and will clear the whole thing soon.....nevermind the gaps.. the entire car is in mock up state at this time.....

The body is now in clear coat. Needs a polish job and more decals... Here are a few mock pics...
