The 914 came in both 4 and 6 cylinder engines (the sixes being the 914-6 with the 911T's engine, and there was also the limited prod. 916) Both had only 2 seats, the driver's side being the only adjustable seats.
Don't know about how many porsches had 2 seats though! If you count all the racing models and stuff that had 2 seats, though..........

Allright 911guy!
Other than the 356, 914 and the new boxster, most models were 2+2 seating! [race cars don't count as production cars] And notice...Porsche is now being a all water-cooled company. Got to keep up with the industry. But water-cooling offers some advantages over air-cooled. |

Whoops!!!
I correct myself! The 356 coupe was 4 seat, but the drop-top was 2. Does anyone own a 928 and post here or am I it? |

Hey Seb928S,
You might want to look at a 911 SC. A bit of an improvement over the 911 S. I just talked a person out of a 912. They didn't know they had a 4-cyl inthem...at least the one that they were considering. I'm not knocking the 912, but it's not a collector car (price or anything else) just yet. I didn't make a mistake of talking them out of the 912 did I? |

The 1973 911S is a bit faster then the 911SC. I like the way the 911S drives little harder then the 911SC but it's great. I love the last years of the S model 911 in the mid 70's. It's just the person maybe you like the 911SC more better then the 911 because its looks more newer or maybe its more reinfinded or anything else. If you are meaning engine problems that's ok because the 911S is just a bit easier to work on oh well. BTW do you own a porsche? If so what kind?

Looks of the SC isn't what I meant. I do know it is supposed to be a bit more refined, but that is rumor control....
I own a 928. Just sold my 924 and 944.

Does anyone come to this group that owns a 928?
Other than the normal NewsGroup for Porsche 928's, I don't see any posts of 928 owners other than myself... Hello.... Is anyone out there...?

928's are very underrated.. my uncle has an '82 928 and it still goes really well... for a car that's so old it has never failed him and trust me he drives it hard.. very nice car, still fast after all these years...
just goes to show that Porsche build bomb-proof cars cheers jay |

They always have. The only real rust-buckets were the 914's and 924's. They bodies were built by VW and didn't use the same galvanizing process that Porsche used.
But the vehicles were still outstanding...

The '73 911S was a great car, one of my favorite Porsches. Super light with a nice torquey 2.4liter engine that put out close to 190 hp. The '74-'77 911S's had a 2.7 liter motor that was nororious for premature valve failure and pulling head studs. These cars were also heavier with more accomodations and bumpers, and were strangled with new emmisions.
Porsche did build other 8 cylnder engines besides the one in the 928. I believe it was the 908 that had an aircooled flat 8 amidship. Porsche also has built flat 10's and flat 12's. I've been a 928 fan for some time and have come close to buying a couple. I'm always weary though of the fact that repair costs on neglected cars can exceed the purchase price very quickly.

The 928 is an excellent car. My step father has one & it has great power and is really reliable. The only problem with them is the automatics start in 2nd gear.
My first car was an 944 but it had a lot of reliability issues because it needed a little restoration but the motor was bullet proof. |

As a previous 1976 3.0L 911 Carrera (Euro) and a current owner of a 1986½ 928S, the 928 is a much refined road rocket. The power and the luxury is beyond anything else on the road in the same vintage. Besides, it looks like a spaceship even after 25 year since the introduction of the model. :grey:

I love the 928s as well. Last year I just about bought a 928 GTS with 75 thousand km's. One owner car. 350hp. I made the Porsche dealership here an offer, but the next guy offered more and got the car. I ended up buying a Carrera 3,2 instead. A very, very different car than the GTS, but a HUGE amount of fun to drive.
