Re: Sr20det Or Sr20de

if your not planning to put down a bunch of power, just go with the S15 like RW said and stay with a nice amount of reliable WHP. Ive never really seen an S15 tail conversion on an S13/14 but you could do a kouki tail conversion if you get a fastback S13. Dont do an S15 front end on any other car except an S15, you'll run into fitment issues and problems because the S15 is a wider car and requires a kind of squishing togethor to get it on the other silvias.

What year 240sx are you planning on getting? Fastback or coupe?

Re: Sr20det Or Sr20de

I got my eye on a 90 or 91(cant remember) coupe for $600. I decided to do performance mods first last night when i was talkin to my buddy. We both said that the front end conversion with taillights would be different especially where i live. Then I remembered "Dude all the cars around here are all show no go". I would love to see their faces when I blow by them with a car that looks stock. I was just wondering what would I need to have an all out insane suspension and what size tires would best.

Re: Sr20det Or Sr20de

Ill eventually do the conversion like I want to but after the car has the performance mods to go with it.
BTW - This car is NOT going to be my daily driver. Im making it into a show car which explains why Im going to do the conversion eventually. This car is going to sit in my temp-controlled garage until everything is put on and tuned. Then once in a blue moon ill take it out for some quick cash So heres what im doing first.
1. S13 SR20DET
2. Turbo upgrade
3. FMI(If i dont get it with the upgrade)
4. Suspension
5. Clutch, Flywheel, Etc.
6. Rims and Tires
7. Racing Seats
8. Custom Interior
9. Audio System which includes GPS Navigation
10. Body Work (Conversion front and rear, Paint, etc.)
Well thats the plan

Re: Sr20det Or Sr20de

Any idea how much it would cost (more or less) to put on the turbo upgrade and put in the engine?

Re: Sr20det Or Sr20de

Did you read the whole post? I said after i do the upgrades and tune it. And yes it would make me quick cash. I not saying its going to run 10 sec quarters. Like I said the cars around here are all show no go. Im not going to be going against 500hp mustangs or anything like that. I know this one kid he has a 96 Honda Ex. Turbo, exhaust, light suspension mods. He has i believe it was something like 190whp. He'll race anyone. Sometimes he wins sometimes he loses. Hell put down anywhere from 100 to 500 bucks on a race. You mean to tell me that an upgrades S13 wouldnt beat that?

Re: Sr20det Or Sr20de

Yea im having someone else help me. Ive never swapped out a motor so i wouldnt know who to hook up the ecu, harness all that shit. Im going to do some of the work just not all. I was asking because it might just be easier to have my mechanic do it ( quoted $1,000 for all the engine, tranny, and suspension ) I also asked someone else and he said $600 for just the engine nothing else. I trust my mechanic. He used to work on race cars or nascar or some shit like that.(Ive seen pictures of him in a pit working) Hes worked on a Ferrari. It was there one day when i dropped of my car. He also worked on a 300ZX TT that he upgraded for the kid and all that. He also had a 575hp Camaro that he worked on so I know that he knows what hes doing.

Re: Sr20det Or Sr20de

There are some pretty quick cars around here just no one races. There are a couple of 10 second mustangs but they wont street race. Most of the cars are all stock. Some of the wrx's have FMI, BOV and exhaust but thats it.

Re: Sr20det Or Sr20de

Should i just have him do it. Cuz if something goes wrong ill have to bring it to him anyway plus this way its done already tuned and ready to go nothing else needed.
